That’s true, maybe “Michael Fabricant” was too strong any nobody knows what really happened (which irks me, if you have a story that doesn’t implicate you then why not tell it?) But people get cancelled for less.
Most of the skate industry didn’t get in a fight where someone was called a “fag” and murdered.
“Lots of people were homophobic” doesn’t make it any better either. Lots of people have beat on and killed black people over the centuries too.

Disagree with your last sentence though. Homophobia is up there with racism in my book. But anyway, I don’t want to ruin this thread.
Have a very low tolerance for homophobia as I know people who have been seriously affected by it. So I get a bit wound up when people say “it’s just the way things were”, the way things were was wrong. No beef tho.

Muckmouth seem to have taken down the Josh Swindell interview they did with him when he got out of jail, strange. All I can really remember about it now is Danny Way would go see him a bit when he first went in, then it sort of stopped over time. He didn’t really put the whole thing to bed as such, if I remember right, but I think I’d be half making it up at this point if I said anything else.

@anon86856945 I loved these, such a shame they didn’t last long. I thought it was amazing how they would slip in a few trick from a decade prior. seemed like ancient history to me at the time.

As a kid, I was really good at football, Gaelic football and hurling, then got into skating. Every single skate mag I read in my teens had some hatred levelled at team/field sports, which really threw me. Ended up cutting back a lot on team sports for a few years before getting back into it, but with much less ability and fitness. Dropped them altogether when I left school and all I was into for several years was skating. Took me ages to start picking up other interests and stop being such a coccooned, insular bore.
It’s definitely one thing that skating really fucked up on.
