Rewatching Natural Koncept videos because I saw that the top comment on the newly released Black Label vid was ‘This is what the world needs right now’ and I thought, ‘No…what the world needs right now is a new Natural Koncepts video’.
I introduced my mate to 20 Shot Sequence after skating tonight. He was blown away. I was loving it too, not seen it for a while. Been trying to get him onto the oldies for a while. He watched and loved Questionable recently.
If you like skating curbs Tim Gavin’s Pack of Lies part is still the benchmark. Loads in there I’ll never do and a few I might still be able to learn.
We don’t really skate curbs but I’ll revisit that as I’ve not seen it for a while. He’s only just turning 35 so I’m just trying to sort of go through the mad era of change 90-95. Hokus Pokus I think pushed it a little too far back for him, but certainly 20 Shot hit the mark as it is very modern trick-wise. Kareem 360 kickflip into a 50/5-0 on the top of a picnic bench, kickflip nose manual on a picnic bench and Ronnie switch 360 flip over a driveway. Henry switch flip crooked grind on a ledge. Thats just plucking random shit out of my head.
He saw Eric Pupecki - errm…Pupecki grind? Yep! ![]()
He’s really into highly technical manual tricks so to go back over 30 years and see things he’s not seen or done before is pretty fun.
Rodney vs Daewon then?
I was going to suggest Mad Circle Let the horns blow and Stereo Tincan Folklore. Oh well.
Most modern stuff he has seen (like the Rodney vs Deawon as he is a fan of both) and he does have a decent extensive DVD collection from 00’s onwards. A Visual Sound is in there as that is ‘94. Spirit of the Blitz is too far back though. Mad Circle good shout.
I don’t think many younger people really delve into the archives much. Last night I was like “I’m forcing you to watch the opening 101 section of 20 Shot” ![]()
Skypager, Virtual Reality, Trilogy, Whatever, Heavy Metal…On list!
Love that video!
Was trying to track down the rare daewon part Ted deros mentioned in his bunt intervew and ended up finding this instead.
It’s pretty rare that I come across a video from the 90s that I’ve never seen.
This one is next level madness.
Skateboarding paired with extreme juggling.
Several montages featuring notable skaters and full parts from others. There’s a pretty mental storyline with skits throughout. You know simon woodstock has a part but with actual skating not just trick stuff.
Other highlights for me include jeff king ollieing s dumpster whilst juggling and a full part from John Van Ham!?!
Honestly worth watching for the entertainment value.
Have just rewatched Chris Coles Dying to Live part for the first time in 10+ years and his nollie flip at Macba a few tricks gives insane context to Joslin and anyone else skating over the bin.
I really want to watch that, but why has someone made VX footage 16:9???
I wouldn’t say it’s 16:9. It’s more like 3:2 like that latest Gustav part that came out. I’ll never understand why filmers fuck with the aspect ratio but I guess it’s just personal preference.
Surrey is actually the goat though.
That line at 3:25 made me say WHAAAAAT out loud
Good to see him back (then) on a board
Best thing I’ve seen all year
