Wife has scratched car already. 3 days old.
£1500 in the garage yesterday ![]()
Basically my first car except except mine was red and didn’t have the fake M badge.
FFS what is it with the gangsta headlamps ![]()
My mate had a two door one around 2000 and it was great.
Ahh no. Fucking cars!
Put aircon and heating on hot, full blast, get as much heat out of the engine on as poss
I think it’s leaking coolant
Crack out the radweld
You might be able to just top up the coolant, keep an eye on it and it might be ages before you need to top it up again. I’ve ran cars like that for years before now with whatever leak it was never really getting any worse but it’s annoying and better to get it fixed because you’re always wondering if it’s suddenly just going to let go. There’s so many places apart from the radiator where the water flows round that can potentially spring leaks it can be tricky but just have a search for whatever car you have and there’s likely some common culprits.
Could be the head gasket. Check the oil dipstick for any milky deposits.

Check under the oil filler cap too, and if you see what looks like the dregs of a cappuccino in there then that can be a sign of head gasket failure, but it can also happen when the car is fine but just does a lot of short journeys.
Not followed rallying for years but this popped up on the other day. Thousands of km of racing over a whole year, two corners to win the whole championship only for the commentator to step in:
As above, check the level and if there is mayo on your oil cap. If level low, top up with the right coolant for the car. If mayo on oil cap, likely head gasket failure so get it looked at asap - IIRC the more use post-failure can cause more damage*
I had a mk5 1.4tsi Golf which started to lose coolant regularly, and a friend had the same with his mk5 GTi - no issues, but annoying having to top up regularly and fairly common iirc. Also had to top up my Touareg recently, but that is staying level after what must be a slow drop.
