Oh yeah no doubt. I remember the Lakai UK thing. I just mean itā€™s not like a direct deal like the Dougie thing.

I remember chatting shit and getting very pissed at the Pretty Sweet after party with a revolving crew that primarily had Jason, Cov export DK, Kenny Anderson and Cory Kennedy (CMOAC). Jason was on fine form that night, we may of nicked some of the Crailtap art prints that had been dotted around the hotel. Feels safe to admit that so many years later, felt quite bad the next morning.

Lakai have had a few UK guys. Was Scott Palmer on some sort of UK deal at some point - thinking around LAF era? Pretty sure Mackey mentioned in his Brain Drain he was the first person in Europe getting Lakaiā€™s. More recently Henry Fox whoā€™s also getting Girl through Form.

In-between Blueprints death and Isleā€™s beginning I remember Jensen was riding Girl boards and Iā€™m my head the idea of Jensen on Chocolate made a lot of sense to me. Would of loved that.

Just realised I posted on this thread twice and never mentioned the actual edit.

Really enjoyed it. Dougie is rad! Not sure about the switch casper flip but he gets a pass as his Nollie Back Heels are so aesthetically pleasing to me. Always very sick to see a UK head get a call up on a major US brand.

Edit: Also DFEā€™s front side full cab over the rail in LA was amazing!

Are they gonna do Asics in the UK? Are they available in Europe at all?

Interesting that his board and shoe sponsor are very international.

Only currently available in France from what Iā€™ve heard. Meant to be coming to the UK but I got told that about a year ago so fuck knows whatā€™s going on with it.

I heard that Asics as a company arenā€™t interested in skateboarding. They donā€™t see it.
The reason they are in skate is because they just follow the NB model in everything they touch with marketing and product.

The skate division is run through an agency (Kasper VL who was at SB, early days) based in USA. Just the same as how NB started out.

Asics told each country that it wasnā€™t a must that the skate product is part of the line and if they donā€™t think they can sell it, then donā€™t do it.

Only France took it. The rest of the company didnā€™t believe in it enough to back it.

Kasper has a very, very hard road ahead of him if internally they just donā€™t give a shit.

Could be wrong here, but this is how it was told to me but a couple of reliable people.
