Drum machine / synth / sampler geekery

Yeah I meant that Roland. I saw that Thomann presale and thought the same thing as you.

What’s a reasonable price for a used MPC 1000 would you say? Sorry for all the q’s and cheers for all the help so far.

Dunno really but i had a quick look at they look like 350- 500 now. Probably a bit much. The older mpcs do have a bit of magic about them but lack all the things like effects and ease of recording the new stuff has

That roland looks too good to be true really, I’m thinking it must have something wrong with it! If it’s intuitive enough they should sell millions. Gwan get one and let me know how it is

Yeah think I’ve convinced myself to take the plunge on that Thomann presale on the p6.

Do it! It’s a bargain

What kind of stuff are you looking to make?

Probably like Lego Feet but not as good

You could use lots of things to acheive this. A fun option is picking something up older, like a Korg Electribe/rolandMC/yamaha groovebox for the drums and sequencing and literally any monosynth out there for bass duties, even 2 for a fun bass/melody playoff. Cheap as you like because honestly, to sound half decent you’ll be wanting to post process the sound anyway as you won’t get the overall timbre like lego feet with just that gear dry. So you’ll end up looking into ways to colour your overall mix. Oh, and for dawless fun, a Mixer is essential.

Saw a rhythm wolf go for £70 the other day! Still want one

It’s in the post to me. Excited!

Got it yet? Seen a few people saying the limited screen makes things difficult but it can’t be that hard. Gimme a shout if you want a load of nice samples, I’ll do you a zip.

Yeah it arrived yesterday actually! Was quite a busy work day but was having a play yesterday evening.

Started off utterly baffled tbh. By bedtime had figured a few things out, but really I need to sit down with the manual. I’m pretty chuffed with it - it’s going to be fun.

An unexpected bonus was that my ten year old son seems really interested and blown away by it. He was playing with it for nearly as long as me and even figured one or two basic things out.

A zip’d be awesome mate if you have the time

Nice! I make tunes with my 5vr old niece at xmas etc with the koala app, (brilliant sampler app) we sampled her barbie horse and her singing etc, really funny. Amazing how quick they pick things up. She loves playing with my roland s-1 synth too and got some mad sounds out of it!

Ill dm you a link when i get a chance with some bits

Here’s some for starters

Nicely Drexciyan vibes on #1. Like the second acidic one too. Is that a TD-3 on #2?

Yep. Definitely isn’t a 303… I covered up the behringer logo.

It must be my most used bit of kit after the 2000. The buttons are wearing out. Not sure if acidy stuff is your cup of tea but they’re such a bargain especially used

I’ll admit I’m watching two second hand ones on eBay right now. So much for buy one piece of kit and learn it inside out before moving on. :joy:

Quite surprised at how cheap they go for, but I guess they’re not that expensive brand new.

Just had a look, you might as well get a new one for this price, since it will come with a warranty.

Not that I’m encouraging wanton gear lust, try to resist
