Good to see a few heads at the launch yesterday, if briefly. It was an impressive collection of uk skatelore legends in attendance it has to be said.

Book is banging on first flick, equal parts classic mag shots, like the best of the best, amateur shots with extra background realness, meticulous documentary and quotes and interviews with everyone

Venue was very busy, people like tlb and meany there which was crazy to me as someone who took a big lump of inspiration from them in those youthful days. Also spotted mark Moore from S Express. Free beer, too many cigs. And Reynolds and some other very good skateboarders. You think you know them af first glace then you release

Also loved that first broadcast was on loop on the big screen. I thought at first it would be a selection of uk vids but nope, just the best one.

Congrats @buildafire

(I’m on holiday, kids gone to bed, suns out, just had a 1 skin in the garden, so you get this rambling bollix)

Not heard a bad word about the launch and only praise for the book from even the bitterest old farts I know.

Really gutted I couldn’t make it. Big up @buildafire can’t wait to get my hands on a copy

I’m 99% sure there were a few videos on loop. WFTW and Insane “Mouse Pulling The Key” were on, too.

I felt like there was almost every heavyweight from the era the book covers in attendance. It was pretty incredible.
Possibly only Channer and Franklin missing.
Seeing Ben, Horse & Leo together will never not be cool to me.
Loads of Unabomber, Blueprint, Death and Reaction heads. Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield all showed up. Liverpool…Sibs came down from Scotland.

It’s a funny one - because this might be the first time this amount of these names would all be under the same roof since possibly Pioneer or Radlands. So, whats the excuse to do it again? Because that book clearly took years of work…Theres gotta be a simpler excuse for a get together. haha.

I’m sort of gutted I pre-ordered the book and didn’t just buy it last night.

Epic evening. Epic book.
Cannot wait to read.

Sorry to miss it, my health is not allowing me to deal with these kind of events atm. This delay till the pre-orders ship now is a bit of a boyment!

Almost went with Curtis but he couldn’t do it either for his own reasons so we both sacked it off

An adjacent thought… I wonder what the current and future generations will feel when they get into their real lives and beyond and don’t have any memories of shared things to look back on…

“Did you sign into the launch of the new AI dump of Instagram reels from 2026?”

“Yeah, man, it was rad, had to log off when I started getting adverts midway though a conversation with Rainbow Swagtard”

Not gonna be able to cop this for a while so wanted to check, is it a limited run presumably and when it’s gone it’s gone?

I’ve got a couple ordered for the shop if you want one. They’re through skate shops via Keen

I guess thats a couple of generations away. I get it.
But photos and videos are still being created, thankfully.
Mags still exist.

I appreciate it’s half a planet away from you - but seeing the work Brooks has done for the Skate50 exhibition at SouthBank was really cool.
His piece is historical, covering crew from his generation who grew up at Southbank - and to me, it might be the first UK retrospective from within the generation which has been created.

Possibly wrong - but I think those lot are going to have more media that we have to look back on even if digital is primarilly their output.

Yeah, that’s interesting actually… the sheer amount of media being produced probably means there’s gonna be a lot of amazing stuff that might not have seen the light of day at the time popping up as it’s “value” is realised in the fullness of time.

Did you order from Waterstones?

Some online shop called Awesome Books or something like that.

Nothing from Waterstones

It says order being processed for me but I don’t know if it said that all along anyway.
