Bad joke, but yeah my flip tricks are okay I’ve settled on 8.4 deck with 149s, it’s pretty much flush not that I’ve every cared about it however flip tricks were a bit more challenging for a month or two but now it’s normal.
139s were a bit too tippy after moving up in board size.

Set this deck up at the weekend, 8.125 with new F4 classics. Going from 52mm Radials to 54 classics feels like I can dig into turns more, which is good.

I got one and skated it for five minutes before twisting my ankle and immediately taking the trucks off and going back to Generator wood.
At my age I don’t have enough skateboarding days left to deal with becoming accustomed to unfamiliar concaves. Did look nice though.

Oh yeah totally that was my point. Slightly wider deck is the shit. Just that Schmitt also makes a case for the opposite spinner faster in the air due to increased centrifugal force
My recent testing has shown (for me at least) that wheelbase is important but concave and tail/nose steepness have the biggest effect

What’s everyone’s experience of 8.25 vs. 8.125 vs 8 for flip tricks and pop? Do flip tricks really not suffer from the wider size? Or is it just worth it for the other positives?
I’ve been on 8.06 forever and tempted to change things.

slower 360flips, harder to keep the foward momentum of them. You can tell when a board is slightly too big when people land 360flips up the front of their board.
Kickflips feel great once you change up the snap pressure and timing.

Gone from 8 \> 8.125 recently and the width isn’t noticeable to me. Wheelbase under 14.25 screws me though.
ETA - that’s just the basics. I’m nearly 44 and forever a bit shit 😄

I’ve gone from 7.75 to 8.25 over 6 years.
8.25 all the way. I catch flips and feel much more solid on it. But I also have size 10 feet.

8.38 is my all time favourite size (apart from that one 8.06 organika i skated) but i’ll settle for anything from 8 to 8.4 tbh

I’ve been on 8.125s since sizing up from 8’s about 10 years ago. Made rotation stuff a little harder. But I saw @niallc riding a fucking 9" for a while and it didn’t do him any harm.

He’s UKSOTY though. I saw that too and felt special just witnessing it.
Recently set up a 8.125 popsicle on 144s after skating 7.875s on 139s for over a decade. Straight flip tricks feel better, a tad harder to flip but more solid when I land. I haven’t really tried 360 flip variations yet, it’s summer time and I just skate extremely safe curbs and small quarter pipes on my 8.75 egg wearing shorts. #40in4months

I realised the other day that because of changing wheels twice a year I’m normally skating roughly 47mm wheels quite a lot. Woops
