Film Thread

Pans Labyrinth is the newest best film that springs to my mind but it’s probably really old now.

Probably watched Dumb and Dumber the most in my life I imagine.

Loved the first new one, got pretty bored of the second one if I’m honest.

It’s a perfect film. Can’t recommend enough

Big lebowski and Ferris beullers day off for me

i’ll tell you a banger that i seem to be watching every few months and each time is like the first time; Michael Clayton. starring George Clooney.
it was only only the last time i realised its written and directed by Tony Gilroy who is the guy that basically saved star wars with Andor.
slowly turning into an all time top 5.

Interesting. Not watched or thought about that in years. Think I’ve got it on DVD somewhere. Might have to pop it on.

Re: Dune, I watched the first one a few times with different people as a way to catch them up so we could watch the second but they don’t really have much rewatch value to my mind. Maybe it’s the pace. Star Wars really took so much from that book and is infinitely more rewatchable if a bit simplistic.

Love that last long shot where he’s in the taxi

I know he’s a mega A-lister, but I still don’t think Clooney gets his props. I’ve never not enjoyed watching him on screen

Napoleon Dynamite
Collateral
Back to the Future 1 and 3
Basically any Nic Cage film especially Family Man or Lord of War

There is a doc coming…looks promising.

Really enjoyed 28 years later.

It’s much less frantic than the first film, tbh the trailer is a bit misleading. I actually found myself getting quite emotional at one point and could see a few other people in the audience dabbing their eyes, which I had not expected from a zombie rage film.

I’ve seen some mixed reviews, but it’s got me looking forward to the next one. Interested to know what people think about the final 5 minutes

I saw it last night and loved it. Going to watch it again with work peeps on Thursday.

Is it true about the ninja chavs?

Yeah, that’s the final 5 minutes. It is quite a tonal shift - everything suddenly ramps up after being quite subdued. I didn’t hate it, but there’s definitely a different vibe with it.

I just read something that tried to explain it by arguing that it’s the main character (who’s only 12 years old) seeing something new and exciting for the first time, so we’re seeing a sort of hyper stylised version of the actual events. In the same way that the early kills are really visceral and frantic becuase it’s the first time he’s experienced them, then they get less so as the film goes on. Not sure if I buy it, but I trust Boyle to have a reason for it

Loved 28 Years Later, ending was great and got me really excited for part 2

Did other people cotton on whilst watching that they were all called Jimmy and looked like Saville ? I didn’t even register it at the time and was only after reading up on some online discourse and some people being mad
