I don’t think I’ve ever tried one of those. Feebles on ledges make no sense to me. I mean, they are rad but I just don’t know how to do them. I should learn them.

never been about impressing people and showing off. It’s a personal thing. I get enjoyment from the consistency of skill, it’s an inate need in anything I do whether it’s skating, music, art, pool, literally anything I attempt. If I can’t get to a level that triggers what needs to be triggered to feel enjoyment and worth then I don’t see the point in spending time on it.

Skating is just so deep rooted that I can’t let it go, I know I can enjoy it again but do things way up enough to achieve that? I have spent so little time on it over the past however many years that I fail to see me putting more effort in than I have. I have every intention and dream about breaking through it and skating regularly again and I know that skating regularly WILL get me to a place I could enjoy but will time/mind and life allow.

I’m not wallowing and looking for answers or sympathy, I was just initially putting my predicament out there because it’s the opposite of the above posts about getting back out and it being positive.

I am toying with doing a 50 tricks at 50 though which could be a catalyst for forcing me to do something about it.

Insert patronising-but-true post here about how you can just try to find the simple joy in carving around on flat and learn to embrace the stoke and drop your increasingly unachievable targets for contentedness which are actually the only thing bringing you down

Sounds good to me, I’m more of a street skater anyway. The new skatepark in Barnsley looks pretty sick! I’m planning on making a trip out there soon.

It’s very true and I should be thankful but I don’t have the local terrain to just go out. There is no inspiration to just go out. A skate takes time and planning for it to get anywhere near enjoyable.

The last time I enjoyed a real cruise I was in Gran Canaria and I felt alive and well even though I couldn’t actually skate well. That’s the kind of place you can literally throw your board down and go to the shops any time or whatever. I don’t have that option.

I’m so stiff today haha, Daddy’s knackered. Glad I’m only on a half day, 3 skates in a week what was I thinking.

Tell me about it!? On the rare occasions I would skate I’d just stick to doing different grinds on tranny as they gave me a sense I was doing something ‘good’ but didn’t need me to pop my board. I’m trying to work on getting some pop back into my ollies now so I can do more but it is a mission. I have to really concentrate to get 1 ft off the ground these days and it feels like I’m skating with ankle weights on most days. But I’ve found just trying to set little challenge and doing little 15-20 min skates a few times per week is working. Progress is slow, sometimes fun, sometimes not so much, but feels like good exercise either way which is a positive.

Me neither. I accidently fall into a crap one if I mess up a 5-0, so thought I’d try and figure it out.

I think I’m out tonight. May have some more tries. Didn;t set new board and wheels up, might wait a week or so.

Had a last minute call from a tattooist mate in Chester who had a visiting artist over and wanted to go for a roll. He picked me up and it turned out his mate was a guy called Matt Keegan, Ben Keegan’s older brother and fellow Coventarian! Had a great session mini-ramp session at the indoor spot in Frodsham talking Cov, and going full mosh. Even had a little street session afterwards. Brilliant skate!

I did that a few years ago - definitely fun but I foolishly only thought of it about a month before my birthday, which didn’t help! The best thing about it was getting some tricks as doubles with me mates, which was totally unplanned.

Got just over an hour in before I slipped on coping and twatted my knee. It now has a strange dint in it 😄

Edit: Two hours later and it looks like it is trying to bleed. With a white hole in the middle. Swole too. Should be reet for Thursday 👍

@KeithBeef 👋

Rough one last night. Almost focussed my board a handful of times, really wasn’t in the right place (home stuff that I can normally leave outside) so ended up stopping and leaving my board behind for someone more in need rather than making a show of myself. Glad I made that decision.

Do you have another board at home for when you next want to skate?

I sat with Si and Jess going through the Distro sites. Slim pickings for 8.125". And plenty of shit graphics, which doesn’t _really_ matter except its aesthetics, isnt it? 🙂

Feel like I’m being forced towards 8.25" against my own will.

I love this toy machine one they had. But it was too big for me at 8.5
