I think it isn’t really required now as most shoes are fairly decent. SG lasts 1-2 sessions before it wears through, when I re-apply and give it at least a day before I skate in them. Thread drift!
Had the day of adult responsibilities, so treated myself to an early pre-heat skate at Brooky, then headed into town to check out the Ozzy exhibition at the Birmingham Museum. Wagamamas lunch not pictured.
Nice session at Hebden yday - good to see Mike Wright out
Yeah same here, I only use it on old shoes that have a ollie hole but still feel good enough that I want to make them last a tad longer. I apply Shoe Goo in thin layers, ideally at least one day before going skating, then I’ll color the Shoe Goo black with a Sharpie so it doesn’t look like I Shoe Goo my shoes until the third ollie of the day. At least I look semi fresh alone in my car on my way to the skatepark.
Went skating, very hot, blew the crotch on my kecks
Oh, for a MW comeback
Couple of hours tonight. Don’t feel like I’m skating very well at the moment but whatever, measuring the fun level makes it all good.
Had one of those slip out slams coming out of a ledge front board where you nearly smash your mouth into the floor. Scary.
Speaking from memory these days. I think when you’re skating a lot, it feels like you hit a plateau rut for a while before you suddenly have a progression spurt again from seemingly nowhere.
Kelly from Wakefield too.
Her and Connie Gascoigne repping for the ‘vets who shred’ crew.
You’re right - plus I over-skated recently which my body didn’t thank me for so I was also coming off the back of extreme tiredness and a few knocks and strains.
Late out tonight, got an hour in. Pretty decent skate actually, fairly pleased.
Yer skated 2 days in a row. Yesterday fun, today shit. I was out on my own which is always poo
It takes a while but you do build resilience which takes a lot of skating.
Skated tonight, kinda taking it easy as I had my son with me being annoying on his scooter and my back started being a bit shit halfway through. Similar session to last night really. Had a focus on trying to get 360 kickflips on the flat bank, very close to a handful but no dice. Same with nollie kickflips.
Yer I hear you, just had a shite skate yesterday, nothing clicking and zero vibes at the park.
Early morning shred at the local park today. First skate in a few weeks and fully reminded me why I love skateboarding.
It’s finally less hot down here, 24 degrees today. Went for a morning skate, skated for almost 2 hours. Tried to film a clip for Bun Dis but timing my attempts between horrible kids on scooters trying horrible things on scooters in the background was hard (I can’t have any of that in my clips) so I gave up and finished the sesh with a 4 trick line that felt very satisfying.
Couple of hours down the local which almost didn’t happen due to family/being a parent things, but somehow stars aligned. Ended up chatting and not skating that much over the two hours but still good regardless and much needed after the family stress around tea time. Back feels better now too, sometimes you just need to keep it moving to quote Hopps.
Landed my first nollie heel in a long, long time. “I told you I could do them!”
Two personal flat bank NBD’s tonight and got the footage for BT, so mega stoked. Might redo but a little sketch didn’t hurt anyone. So I now need to work on the rail and ledge stuff of which I have a few plans.
Thursday next and then Voltarol Saturday. Happy days.
Couple of hours tonight. Landed my first crook on the park ledge. It is quite rounded so I always flop off. So stoked on that, only taken 12 month of intermittent tries lol. Now for consistency…
Also had a funny fall boardsliding the long rail. Rails would be a nice cheat code for that…
Young Blye was flying about and did a front board down the long low down rail.
Again tonight but legs knackered. Excited for tomorrow!
Yes without rails the bottom of your board is convex so it can shoot out from under your heels. Rails make your board effectively flat, plus they make the slide longer and more consistent.
