My accountant mate says if tax has been paid once (new) you donā€™t pay it again second hand. But Iā€™ll ask him about this eBay stuff (, and cars etc) ---

Itā€™s for people who are buying and selling frequently. Guy I know bought his daughter a container of clothes to sell on vinted and sheā€™s made a fortune and she keeps getting banned for selling too much. The whole family are proper twats and will grift on the side while taking a slew of benefits because they have 7 kids. Itā€™s these they want to make an example of but unfortunately itā€™ll be the smaller honest people getting punished with the system. ---

Itā€™s not an additional tax, just HMRC getting additional information from selling sites in order to target the growing number of customers operating like a business to enforce a tax that already exists no? Rather than the occasional sellers who are having a clear out? I guess itā€™s no different to those that sell at car boots full time, if thatā€™s still a thing? ---

Any time Iā€™m selling jazzy gear on eBay thereā€™ll be a few Michael Fabricants messaging all, ā€œHi mate, whatā€™s the lowest youā€™d go on the t-shirt? I really like itā€, and you check their profile and theyā€™re a reseller shop and theyā€™ve got Insta and Depop accounts too. Probably also why you never get anything good in charity shops anymore too, because some Michael Fabricantā€™s bought it all up and is taking studio photos of it to sell to the stupid. ---

Same. I did a big wardrobe clear out just after Christmas. Canā€™t be fucked with Depop/eBay idiots, so I just bunged the lot into a clothing recycling bin for Birmingham Childrenā€™s Hospital. Any proper nice stuff I give to the good homies. ---
