Keir’s really fucked it hasn’t he?

What are Labour even for at this point? Just not Tories? I want the Tories gone as much as anyone but it would be nice for them to actually have some ideas.

Isn’t that enough? For now? Given the parameters of the inherited monster-in-the-attic national theatre masquerading as politics they we’re forced to pretend represents a consensus?

I work with some of the poorest people in the Uk every day and they will all be objectively better off without the Tories.

Nobody should compromise their personal belief system but pragmatism still kind of works.
Speaking from my own perspective of course.

Yeah for sure. I’m not saying I won’t vote for them.

This is just going to be a massive stick the Tories can smash Labour round the face with. It’s just been terrible politics. A big self inflicted wound.

I guess it’s so far out of the GE it won’t matter anyway because people can’t remember what happened 5 minutes ago let alone 5 months.

TBF they are eternally damned if they do and damned if they don’t when it comes to any of their policies. I just don’t really know exactly what they are.

The one thing the Tories try and beat him up on weekly is on his u-turns so Labour have handled this one really, really badly.

I guess what’s in their favour is the Tories are just in open warfare with each other and can only offer us as their big central GE pledge the chance to clean up their own shit that they’ve been spewing for a decade and a half.

Not a great prospect that.

And if they did explain well and capitalise Tory incompetence, the influential press would highly likely tear them a new one.

Yeah, that’d be a nice to have. My old man is old school left.

I’m a bit drained now, thought I’d see what Tucker/Putin is all about and…I’m gonna finish this beer whilst listening to some beats…

That clear messaging would’ve been useful about 5 days ago from KS rather than being caught out on this and seeming to be very shifty.

I’m sure it won’t really move the needle anyway for an election that’s still about 7 months away.

the issue is going to be that “we’re not the Tories” will win Labour one general election but not two. they’ve fucked the country (deliberately?) so bad that one Labour government without any real direction beyond “we’re not them” is going to achieve nothing and it’ll just flip flop back to the Conservatives at the next one

I have listened to some of it. The history of Ukraine bit I have read before on the Kremlin site, nothing new there, mad nationalist pride vibes.

He goes on to talk about geo-politics and global change and it’s quite interesting but very revealing. He views the world as a pie to be shared between the big powers. He definitely isn’t thinking about individual rights, families, cultures, countries. They are irrelevances in the grand scheme of things. It’s US vs China with Russia and India jostling for position behind them.

He was allowed to speak without any challenges or interruption really, no tough questions, no mention of war crimes, human rights violations, aggression beyond Russia’s borders, he had free reign to lay on the charm. Didn’t falter at all, you can’t deny he’s a smooth operator, even if things were made easy for him. It’s story time really, not a proper interview, but I will take it over no interview at all.

yeah i get you. I reaaaally like the GB energy company idea and i really hope they run with that fully. I think one of the things that really bugs me is the constant jibes from Sunak about raising taxes. I’d be happy for a tax raise (especially if it was actually proportional to wealth) if we could use the money to fix the country. If low or lowering taxes means a fucked education, healthcare, welfare etc. then i’d rather pay more

Bit grim really but still a great pic

I saw a woman buy paper plates and napkins to cover up the fact she just needed a new roll of tinfoil in the corner shop once. It was so obvious.
