I have a SIPP and bought into some s&p500 yesterday. 20% drop from highs. Next target is 40% from highs, YOLO

This I think is going to be Keir Starmer’s big chance. He’s straight, boring and uncharismatic - but Tony Blair and Boris Johnson both had charisma and look where it got them. He’s invited Trump to take a state visit to Britain this year. If he can secure a trade deal then it will be a massive victory.

V simple to make money in this instance, if you know an announcement is coming.
- You hear pause on tarrifs is coming, the last time this happened, NASDAQ/DOW/S&P (choose your index/ETF/poison), went up by 10%
- Minutes/Hours before announcement, you buy into your chosen index
- Ethics (lol) requires you declare your dealings, but this isn’t going to stop you telling your mates you have a juicy nugget of info, and it will only cost them 10% of their profits
- Announcement comes, NASDAQ screams up 10%
- You/your mates sell
- Profit
You could also do this highly leveraged (eg, every % point movement of an index, you basically have a multiplier on that could be anything up to 1000x). This does work in the other direction so you could go totally bust, but probabilities are massively in your favour.

It was good timing for anyone putting cash in an ISA or pension. ISA limits reset April 5th so if you topped up your ISA and pension with shares on that date you would be quids up now.
I know a lot of people add monthly as part of salary, but if you have a self managed pension (SIPP) you probably top up each year at the reset date.
