Yeah but Kalis and Carolino don’t look stiff and rigid - I’d say they just skate ‘average’ trucks and they’ve still got flow. As good as the tricks were in that Insta clip above, I felt like I was watching someone skate in a straight jacket.
Not everyone has to have loose trucks but noticeably tight trucks are like people skating slowly, in that it’s impressive when someone is hauling ass, you’ll just take in the skating when someone is going at a regular pace/optimum speed whereas it sticks out like sore thumb if someone is going slow.
On one hand, I get where you’re coming from though. I fucking hate watching people who basically have loose trucks as their gimmick and skate in way that basically boils down to going fast and skating shit spots/non-spots as an excuse for doing shit tricks.
That is partly to do with his coiled-spring style that it looks like that too. It definitely looks less flowing than guys like Max Palmer. I think you can focus more easily with tight trucks but there is a higher hang-up factor too. I’ve rolled my ankles pretty bad before when skating tight setups.
There are so many things in that Dylan section that are totally flawless, I love that part so much. He does another (better IMO) FS heel on a bump to bar later as well. The impossible over the bench, back smiths (handrail and pool), tailslide flip out, and the fakie heel over the rail are all legit contenders for best evers I reckon. So iconic.
