I had a pair of these as my go to smart shoes, didn’t wear them for ages then when I went to a funeral the soles had somehow deteriorated in the time I’d not used them and turned into sticky mush that left dark streaks anywhere I walked on the nice clean floor of the church and made a noise like I was ripping velcro every step.

Had similar with the desert boot crepe sole - wore them once and really wasn’t into them, chucked them in a cupboard and the sole was stuck to the upper of the other foot a couple of years later.

Yeah for sure, also wet, cold dark nights. Awful. I wish Christmas was a two week build up, rather than starting in shitty August! A two week Christmas OD and done, instead of limping over the line like a flogged to death horse in four months. Where even the people that really enjoy the season are sick of it all.

Same. Been trying to get all the grown ups to have a Christmas gift ceasefire. Fair enough, all get the kids something, but I don’t need a gift off another 8 adults when I buy anything I need anyway, and they’re the same. Just seems pointless spending weeks trying to find something, anything, to waste money on for another grown person who also probably has whatever they need already too. Be better if we all just spent a bit on decent booze and food and partied instead.
No joy other than getting them all to cap it at £30 per person and even that was a struggle. And these are not well off people either, they’re just all sucked in to Christmas

Secret Santa. Put all the names and what they want (up to £30) into a hat at the start of the month, or individual envelopes or something like that. Been doing this for a few years with my family and it saves buying pointless bullshit and unfunny novelty gifts.
