Went to my local town festival to meet friends. Had an alcohol free beer but wasn’t feeling it. Struggle with big crowds to be honest. Went for a nice solo bike ride after.
Turned on Glastonbury for a bit and it didn’t look great. I like a lot of new indie music but don’t feel like it would be given a chance there. If I was to go to a festival I reckon it might be boomtown, but just a night or two.
So did I but it was the bit of the horribly disfugured man talking about how he got horribly disfigured and had to switch it over to Poirot or whatever was on one of the lower channels.
Slash has a prosthetic fat suit on, Duff looks prison/meth lean and Axl looks like a Lidl store manager. No home workout DVDs coming out from this lot at Christmas.
This is a fairly dreadful Glastonbury evening. Tried Leftfield for a bit but then they brought out a white, middle aged MC to spit some patois. Listening to Loyle Carner now and you can tell he went to drama school. Way too sappy. At least he supports the teachers’ strike.
They did some really good songs, just not on this performance. The band haven’t aged well but the songs still stand. Saw them at Gateshead at age 13 in 1992 straight after school and it was electric.
Oh yeah, they deserve their place in music history for sure. But I’m listening to them on 6 music and it’s painful - Axel really can’t hit those (any) notes anymore.
