Love the sole on those.
Wearing my DC Kalis Lite’s that I leave in the country and I can confirm that the soles are like flat crepes. The reynolds NBs have ruined rvery other non NB pair of skate shoes I own because of their full length cushioned soles.
Sci Fi vid then that has made my week.
Designer of that shoe landed on his feet (literally) with that one - “2 stripes and done”
Dont forget the extra eyelets to really make it look weird
I know there’s a market for simple shoes but when I look at models like that I feel like skate shoe companies deserve to be overrun by bigger sports shoe manufacturers.
You’d think that after 50 years of shreddng about the streets skate shoes would show more functionality than colour schemes?
Depends what you’re into, innit
After 43 years of skating I still just want something like a Converse All Star with a nicely cushioned insole, I have no need for anything more. Those Vans look fine to me (not in white though thanks)
I think they might look ok. Got to see them ‘on foot’. Not a massive fan of the Era in the first place.
And @MaxFacePalmer it’s not just the colourway, they’ve bunged in an extra 3 laceloops with a smaller toe cap
Looks a bit like a Deichmann special offer there but think it’d be decent on foot. Cant go wrong with a white canvas shoe imo.
For me that’s a bare minimum.
I just feel like some skate shoe companies have tried to produce minimum quality shoes for maximum retail for too long. They also get themselves bogged down in reissues and colourways. A lot of collabs I see do the bare minimum to change and existing model most of the time.
Nike are also very guilty of pushing the colourway thing too far, but every once in a while they actually bring some new design or tech to a skateshoe. A lot of the core skate shoe brands dont seem to try.
When I see how actual skating today is pushing boundaries of what’s possible, if I were pro I’d expect shoes to help me achieve such things.
I might be rose tinted and wrong but I get the feeling during the late 80s Airwalk and Etnied tried to get really creative in their shoe designs to match the innovation that was happening in the streets/parks.
Nowadays we’re all supposed to get hyped on yet another colourway/collab with no improvements in durability or cushioning. No surprise Nike, Adidas and NB run things.
Have any of you tried Curren’s pro shoe? I tried them on the other day, they felt pretty good but I didn’t have my orthotic insoles with me and I didn’t pull the trigger as I wasn’t 100% sure how they’d fit with these. Kinda want a pair now.
Too much of it ends up looking incredibly ugly though. How many stinking P-Rod models did they churn out?!
Vans have rarely managed to do a tech shoe well, although i recall seeing Salman Agah (?) and Willy Santos pro shoes on loads of non-skaters in the early 00s.
But that Dime colourway is hilariously bad.
That was the same in early 2000s shoes were wild!
Is Pontus claiming his 7(?) year old company has invented the basic white leather upper, vulcanised shoe as a unique and new design?
who cares, my mum would even sneer at them and say they look like granny shoes.
Looks like a Vans knock off from the Tesco clothing section
That’s ridiculous. He can’t have that one.
