Soft Spot Stinkers

Not stinking. Sorry but I’m not having it. Loose yes. Wonky yes. Stinking never.

Sketchy roll always. Park footage in parts. Heavy squatting lands. Disco arms. He was hardly the antipathy of style to his peers of the time.

I think this thread is veering way off course

I think his foundation parts were some of the most stylish skating ever. I watched this obsessively. Not stinking in any way to my eyes.

Going to have agreed on 90% of his current output. I still love it, but you can’t say the style hasn’t wained a bit.

Yeah, I was being a bit unfair and ageist. I love Penny in any era, even the Skytops phase.

Questionable Rodney for me I think. Hate to say it but as kids we were always a bit ‘ewww’ haha.

Justin Brock will always get a pass from me for wearing glasses.

On the geggs-man front, the first part I ever saw where someone wore glasses was Lindsey Robertson in the Mystery video Black and White. There’s more than one stalefish down a stair set in this part, which should be an unforgivable sin, but the bespectacled and brace-wearing spotty teenager that saw this part and was inspired beyond words forever lives on somewhere in my brain.

What about Steve Olson in foundation/shortys

Before my time honestly! I was a bit of a late-comer; didn’t get my first board until sometime in 2007 I reckon. Had only had the THUG era Tony Hawk games as exposure before then. It’d have been around the time Fully Flared came out, because I remember my first Rollersnakes catalogue having the Lakai Kostons with the Fully Flared colourway.

These ones:

Steve Olson is someone I recognise as a legend but is a real gap in my knowledge. Happy to be educated!
