Had a borderline negative opinion of him prior to this but that’s changed - mad how it makes you realise that 90% of the bunt interviews are just some American guy yapping and saying absolutely nothing. It’s not really their fault although I do think they could have maybe been better interviewers at this point in the game - whether it’s the editing or not sometimes their questions feel a little robotic and feels like they miss an opportunity to draw a little more out of the guest. Not a problem with this ep!
I thought the interview was alright and a good start to a new season.
He does ramble but at the same time he is far more eloquent than some interviewees.
I liked that he had some blow back for palace, the mark jackson prank and rob matthiesson photo, calling out TMs and backtails, also props for calling out strobeck. Obviously it’s all from his perspective but still insightful.
I feel like he both shot up in fame and fell from grace at equal speed. It feels like he’s found that sweet spot though right now. He still loves skateboarding but it doesn’t feel like his sole purpose or priority.
The rob mathieson photo, he’s wearing Nike wildwoods, right? This is from memory so could be wrong
I only listened to half of it but am I the only one who doesn’t like him? He just comes across as so full of himself to me.
He does and that comes with his privilege, so it’s inevitable. He could have come out a lot worse as a person. I think of it as that he had no choice of how he grew up, but he chose to do way cooler things than most with his privilege. I don’t like his art, not fussed by his skating but the fact he’s doing these things is a good thing. He might miss the point of facets within these arts because he hasn’t necessarily had to work hard at getting success because more is available to him, but like I said, he didn’t ask to be born into money and if any of us were, we’d use it to be who we wanted to be. Can feel sore though for people who are trying and seeing others skip by with less to offer.
He comes across as self entitled and thinking he’s the smartest guy in the room.
That doesn’t stop it being a good listen though. He’s a theatrical villain.
Could’ve sworn it was half cabs
God, he does. And now it’s been pointed out, I can’t stop noticing it, and its bloody, annoying.
Jeremy Wray this time and it’s a good listen, I didn’t know too much about him which helped I think.
Liked him on The Nine Club. Comes across as pretty intelligent and has some good stories
I liked hearing more detail about some of the crazier spots he’s skated down the years, I’m going to have to revisit some of his old parts now.
He was light years ahead of everyone back then in regards to pop and scale. I love his Colour part. The double set kickflip was so overlooked but one of the best ever done, especially when most people were still rocket flipping on flat.
Just watching this now as I’ve been away. About an hour in great so far. One of my all time favourites. iI mentioned the water tower to a guy at the DIY the other week and showed him the footage he was shocked.
I’m sure I read somewhere that his vision is very poor at night which is why he never had much night footage.
Joey O’Brien is on this time, enjoying it so far.
Sick I really like Braydon.
His bake and Destroy part is amazing. Will listen to this one on the way home.
Was this one good in the end?
I enjoyed that. I suppose he had no choice but to say he lost in the beef with Gillette, sounds like it’s been character building!
He flaked pretty hard on the rapid fire. Cepha called him out for it.
I wish there was more on his break up with baker but listening to him he sounded pretty insufferable during those last days.
I hope his health issues with adhd and short term memory aren’t too bad. Cant help but think all the partying didn’t help.
