For anyone who reads Harlan Coben, the Netflix adaptation of Missing You was released this week.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Harlan Coben was nothing except the name given to an AI designed to churn out forgettable thrillers.

😃 going to steal this and pass it off as my own. so true. it drives me nuts that in a world where Stephen King has churned out hundreds of amazing horror and thriller stories, it’s crap like Harlan Coben’s work that gets picked up time and time again. they clearly think they’re catering to a society that needs bland shite to watch

Bland shite portrayed by bland actors in bland locations - probably end up watching it at some point

Love the opening of the guardian’s review of it:

“Ten down, four to go. I approach each new adaptation of a Harlan Coben thriller under his 14-book deal with Netflix as a weary traveller on a very long journey – committed to reaching the final destination and grateful every time that we are closer to the end.”

Misses has been watching The Substance. Lots of tits and arse, ok fine by me but generally it’s like a children’s story. Basic shit. Like a pound shop black mirror doing the picture of dorian grey. Netflix is glossy shite

awww i thought the substance was a fun body horror. nice and gross

it reminded me of an episode of Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities where a housewife buys a beauty cream that eventually melts her

Sorry i assumed it was a series, didn’t feel like a movie

I might actually read this instead

in 1890, The Picture of Dorian Gray is the story of a beautiful young man who unknowingly makes a Faustian bargain to remain eternally youthful. Seems like a good idea. Spoiler alert: it isn’t. Like all deals with the devil, the cost is his soul and the price turns out to be too high

Yeah. It’s about time someone adapted Stephen Kings works to the screen. Might be good.

recently Salem’s lot was made into (another) movie. it’s one of my favourite horror books of all time and it’s just not quite right. it moves really fast and misses out a lot of the best bits

i really like the original Carrie, Shining and Cujo films. the Stand series from a few years back was decent but nowhere near big enough

the problem is the majority of his works are really long with massive back stories and loads of auxillary characters. whenever his stuff is adapted they miss out all those fun side bits

The Netflix docu, The Deepest Breath, about freediving, is well worth a watch. An amazing and very emotional story.

Any excuse to post pics of three of the most scary images from my childhood which still pop into my mind and spook me out when I’m alone at home now and I’m 51 ffs

The middle one (of Juliette Lewis’s dad) is my fave but the one of Danny Glick floating outside the window was consistently disruptive to my sleep when I was about 10

see it’s those scenes with the villager’s slowly being turned that makes the book one of the gnarliest things ive ever read. none of the movies have ever done it right. that window scene is so sick
