There’s a similar pillbox in the sea here in Suffolk - at Covehithe.
The whole beach is one of my favourite places as it goes.

Yes! I was looking at a book about French prisoners in the late 1800s/early 1900s and their tattoos yesterday, those photos were incredible.
I walked from the right and initially could only read “Free Rubble”.
Thought he was in trouble.
