That interviewer is an interesting choice eh?
Fuck me this interview. Games gone.
Definitely needs to be more of a death race format. The interview needs replacing with Rob Sanderson or stu Graham two buckies in.
What were the results? I turned it off after Eddie because I couldnât see it getting any better.
Decuna first
George (?) Poole second
Eddie third
It was a really weird judging format but guess thats the Olympic rules in effect.
From what I saw that seemed fair, I caught the last of the street runs then they went into best trick and merged the scores. Poole did really well, nice tricks done well and he stayed on a lot, Eddie was a savage but didnt land a couple of his best tricks attempts but they were gnarly going into the bank but Decuna did the comp routine and stayed on.
Like him or not you canât deny he has an insane amount of board control and knows how to play it strategically (Manhead did the same thing the years he consistently won the Champs, doing enough to get through to each round then going ballistic in the final)
Wether he looks good doing it is another argument though. I know who Iâd rather watch a part from but I canât see anyone putting anyone else above him in these formats without kidding themselves
Shame Gilroy wasnât on it as he looks to have some insane steeze.
He was flip over the rail guy that kept slipping out right? If so yeah he was heavy
Yeah thatâs him. Would be great to watch and would love to see that kinda style win out.
A couple of takeaways from me:
I thought the overall standard of skating was quite poor unfortunately, apart from the menâs bowl and a few other exceptions (LA, Roxette, Eddie, Poole etc.). This wasnât very competitive. I know COVID has probably caused that. But a lot of very young or inexperienced skaters seemed to be thrown into this and put under a level of scrutiny which seemed unfair to me. They did not look like they were enjoying themselves some of them.
The format of the street comp kind of killed it for viewers and participants. There were long periods where people werenât skating and waiting for scores and cues to go. People seemed to be visibly losing their focus and couldnât stay warmed up in what sounded like a cold venue. The Street League format only works if itâs done in a slick and speedier way IMO.
Yeah, thats why I wasnt mad that Poole came in second. Thats the tough thing about judging these comps, style vs tricks personally Id rather see someone stylish skating the whole course with flow but then you get a trickbot coming though and you canât deny the difficulty of doing 50 tricks on different obstacles, even if they look less appealing
Probably didnt help it was nearing midnight either
Oh absolutely, Tuna played the contest game well and did what he needed to do. Poole looked strong too, some solid tricks in there.
All devoâd theyâd missed Line of Duty by then.
Thats what Daz was watching on his phone in between looking at photos of geese
The next time youâre looking for that radical new mortgage feeling, just remember support mortgage brokers that support skaters #smbtss
I know its hard to get sponsorship but were there really no more suitable sponsors (not being a dick but even HopKing are at least owned/run by skaters right? I know you canât have booze sponsors obviously but am I missing the connection with Habito and skating?)
I could try that angle out, will need to remortgage soon.
I believe Habito are the mortgage arm of Habitat.
Habito seems to be a lifestyle mortgage brand. Not something I knew I needed.
Selling mortgages on little brick banks wearing cords and playing acoustic guitar
Thanks for all the comments about Lucy, Sam and my commentary - non stop chatting for 6 hours is definitely not easy.
From the comments on here though it seems like we collectively dropped some decent bars here and there. If we made you lot chuckle then jobâs a good un.
Assuming the N26 shout outs were received.
