50 THINGS TO DO IN SKATEBOARDING BEFORE YOU QUIT

It is true. I have sprained my Lisfranc and Chopard joints many times and as a result have to wear orthotic insoles all the time but I have never ever rolled my ankle. Broke some bones, had a concussion, destroyed my big toe nails a million times but I’ve been lucky when it comes to ankles so far. Touch wood!

Yes, of course. I wouldn’t let anyone do that for me. Well, maybe Tony Hawk or someone legendary like that but then again I just remembered that I saw Jake Johnson gripping a board and royally fucking up.

Knowing how to bunk the train from Ipswich to London is the reason why I first got on the OG Sidewalk forum!

Early on, yes. I wouldn’t do that these days.

Of course.

Hahaha. Yes.

Those were good, let’s add some more!

Have you ever

  • done an elaborate grip job?
  • spent more time setting up a board than skating it (sticker job, grip job, anything else)?
  • made a playlist with your favourite tunes from skate vids?
  • tried a trick for more than two hours?
  • stolen candles from a graveyard in order to wax some ledges?
  • gotten a skate-related tattoo?
  • had lunch or dinner using a skateboard as some kind of plate or cheese board or anything like that?
  • flatspotted wheels?
  • eaten shit trying a hippie jump?
  • ruined your clothes with your blood after a nasty slam?

Affirmative except for the tattoo and the candles.

Franc using a deck as a cheeseboard is now fully lodged into my mind

Someone should do an illustration of this!

Done 43 of those i guess. Never sacked myself on a rail, only a tree.

My first ever ‘trick’

360 ones over objects are bloody scary.

Never attended a wedding in skate shoes but did wreck my smart shoes skating after attending a wedding

2 of these I hadn’t done. Shoes at a wedding and forgot the other one

Technically have worn skate shoes at a wedding, Gravis.

44 for me, haven’t dropped in on vert, don’t think Iv cool guyed a pro or been cool guyed by a pro

Wore skate shoes at my own wedding, did not go down well. Did not repeat it for my second wedding…

Think I’m on 47: never worn skate shoes to a wedding, and never skated a real backyard pool. The pool one lingers on my mind a lot! Oh and never had bones Swiss, but I have popped the shields off

I would add ‘slammed in dog shit’ to the list haha

I think I might have done them all..?

Skate shoes at a wedding I could have failed because I consider this a massive no go, but iirc I attended a friends wedding one summer and wore Claes to match my trousers.

  1. Get a ticket

Has everyone really had this happen to them? As I’ve not seen it in anyones list of things they haven’t had happen/done (I think).

I was only person of crew that escaped getting arrested in Barca. Handrail session and I was on road duty, police showed up so I immediately slinked off and got away. @Londonskater was there and got put in jail with about 4 or 5 others iirc. Had to go round collecting passports to get them out. Ben Jobe was with us but he was the only one with a passport and they let him go first!

I’m honestly a bit disappointed in how many of you haven’t dropped in on vert.
