No, I’m saying that a bland existence for many is not good for certain types of people.
But if there are enough people who feel like you, you can make art for each other and create your own subculture. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Animated films are made with computers now, Bob Dylan plays an electric guitar, the world is always changing and people will always adapt.
Can you imagine when cameras became mainstream? All the portrait painters must’ve been like ‘fuck this’
It’s only 40 years ago that people were smashing printing presses.
Everyone had these big wonderful dreams when the internet was first a thing, information at our fingertips, being able to connect with anyone in the world, ect but in reality it’s awful in so many ways, hateful and full of misinformation and run for profit only 99% of the time. I can only see this continuing but getting a 1000 times worse.
They’ll be fun bits too.
Of course and people will always try and some will prevail.
However anytime a new technology has come along, there have been lost arts and people fall by the wayside if they don’t adapt. Sad, but that is progression and if the old medium is good enough, it will come back in some way or another potentially
This does feel different though because it’s not just another tool for humans to do something more efficiently or a progression to take a medium further, this is eventually going to take the human creator totally out of the equation and literally make peoples ideas pointless. Only when the ai output starts to keep churning out the same thing because it’s literally exhausted the internets resources can humans maybe have another look in, if there are any brains left with a thirst for new ideas.
If someone can tell me how this pans out without a few people getting massively richer and everyone else fighting over the scraps I’d be a lot more enthused. Are the bastards in charge of these companies really going to countenance spreading the spoils around?
This is it for me. The tech while progressive and in infinite ways has helped us, it’s also destroying us, our spirit, our individuality, our personality and humanity.
Of course people will argue that the internet has made many people and given them success. There are many types of people and many ways people think and things that drive us. I’m not talking about everyone, it’s killing people and making lives better in varying measures but I believe that everyone has experienced or seen the negative sides of the internet regardless of whether they are pro/neg the internet. There is a cancer throughout our digital lives and it’s impossible to cut it out and keep the good surviving healthily.
Will we ever be able to trust a skate video again? That’s the first thing I am going to make when it’s good enough
I just see the future as a film where we are powerless to an individual power and we just have to wait for a hero to step up.
Insert any film, book, TV idea, hunger games, zoolander, 1984, Alita, black mirror blah blah
overdramatising but damn, aren’t we literally seeing someone trying to be that person, trying to build that future?
name checks out

I might retrain as a plumber. No matter how much ai can do, we will always need to send our pee and poop down some pipes.
Can you give examples? People still paint on walls and bang things together to make music.
Neil degrasse Tyson had a good rant about the motor vehicle killing the equine industry I’d consider smithing a horseshoe an art form.
Print. Vinyl. Film photography?
Yes it can still be done but it becomes prohibitively more expensive as industries that produce it slowly decline not to mention the knock on effect on smaller entities that prop up the process.
I’ll be surprised if newspapers are a thing in 20 years. I occasionally worry we’re headed to a place where physical media will be a luxury item due to the cost involved making it. The rest of us will have to settle for digitally curated brainrot.
Who knows. A brain implant might be awesome.
Streaming has really hurt artists and cinema, is one I can think of.
It will be a world where we don’t own anything in 100 years. Stream all your music and films, as they fade out physical media finally. Houses will cost far too much by then, so everyone rents and lease their cars as the industry changes towards this.
Everything still exists in some form but as a tiny fraction of what they once were and many things are merely kept alive through love. Some things come back though because progress does not always yield better results.
Music has some examples of course but because people hang onto tried and tested instruments and shun new fangled ideas we will always have classic string, brass, wind, keys, percussion and even as modern as analogue electronics. There are more instances in artistic industry but you still have people weaving, masonry, printing, using various old arts but lots of aesthetic industries have died for quicker easier and cheaper results. You can argue against any of these points and vice versa, back and forth what progression is and whether things have gone for a reason or not. Just saying that progression leaves skills and crafts people in its wake. Other humans have always benefitted in past progressions, there was always new skills to learn in new industries, new jobs, opportunities and ideas but like I said earlier, this time humans don’t win as group of creative minds adapting with technology, only the very few who have harnessed and monetised ai will benefit and it’s simply benefit in wealth. There are no winners with any artistic merit just business and the few who own and sell it through media subject us to a life that is trapping and keep us chasing meaningless things.
I saw a tube advert today for the some shite and i swear the model was ai. Not making a point of it, just cos it’s cheaper than a model and photographer. Not sure though. Post reality is here.
I still don’t stream, i buy cds and dvds, the calm you get knowing no ads are about to start , and no one is watching and noting what you do and listen to is nice
I said in a 100 (maybe 200) years when they probably will no longer be producing any and people are forced to stream only, anyone who kept their parents/grandparents will buy and sell them for lots of money.
I don’t know the future obviously just a thought, with the way things are going.
