Lunchtime adventure was fun

Got some insane views after I got through all this though. Went on for a while.

On the headphone thing, i ended up getting these from tesco for 45 quid on a whim. For me they’re great. Comfy and the battery life is incredible.

I can’t believe how long I stuck with having wires tugging at my ears for so long.

First time out in a while up and down through the woods a bit, fucked me.

5km is a good distance for me at the mo. Getting a bit easier each one.

I thought I’d try a different route in the woods too a couple of days ago.

Wound up on 20 degree slopes up rocks which went on and on and on and ended by this path which for hundreds of yards had this death drop which would actually kill me if i slipped down there.

I couldn’t really take a photo of it that does it any justice for some reason but if you went down there you wouldn’t stop till you hit the bottom hundreds of feet down.

I crawled up a big steep slope to get out of it. If a tree root gave way or something I’d be dead.

I did wind up in a caves bumhole though which was cool

Probably won’t go back that way

Keep going! I’m heading out tomorrow if my legs are ok.

This is a random one.

Every so often there will be a person running on the road around my estate and not on the pavement.

They are not passing any people. They are not even anticipating passing people. They are deliberately running on the road next to the pavement.

I’ve seen 2 people do it today but i see it fairly often.

Just…why. why the fuck are they doing this?

For context, this is what my estate looks like

It’s that quiet 99.9% if the time. But on they plod down the road. Do you know a run in the roader?

I used to guess its because they struggle getting up and down curbs but how can you be out running but struggle to lift your leg another couple of inches to get up a tiny step? There’s also drop curbs every few yards if that was even the issue.

Baffled.

I would love to stop one and ask them what the fuck they are playing at but seems a bit rude mid run!

Yeah man, seen quite a few people do this. Only thing I can think of is if they think the road is a less uneven surface to run on.

Seems bizarre but randomly guessing less trip hazards?
The pavement looks like a patchwork quilt compared to the road.

Most roads have a camber which is not great to run on for a long time as one knee is getting stress that the other one isn’t. So, yeah a weird one. I find checking for cars while in the road more hassle than a pavement personally but

There’s a couple of stretches where I run on the road as the pavement is fucked or hedges are overgrown. But yeah seen people doing their whole run in the road and also thought it is a bit weird.

So basically a virtually non-existent potential trip hazard is a bigger issue than a definite chance of getting run over.

Galaxy brains.

I presumed it was because it keeps changing levels for the driveways.

I often run on the road in preference to pavement. Tarmac feels easier on the joints, especially compared to concrete paving slabs.

There’s a handful of barefoot runners near me, odd to see in a city in winter.
