Continually updated running thread

That was cool. I like how Slash came in ahead of Riley on a gravel bike with a pannier rack.

That’s great. You’ll be at 3 miles in no time.

I’m gonna do a slower run next time. Trying to beat my fastest time each time makes each run gruelling. Also, gonna get proper running shoes.

Cheers PJ - It feels good getting back at it.
Will do a few weeks and get comfortable with my 2’s then sneak it up a bit more.

Keep on keepin’ on. Strawberry waters are on me.!!

Finally saw a doctor about the injury I got playing footy in August and she reckons its caused this

Would explain why I feel like I’ve had a heel bruise for the past two months after the swelling went down

Did you try those insoles for it at all?

Honestly astonishing how much better it’s feeling even from two days of doing bits to sort it

A couple of years ago I was an absolute pie. In 2022 I lost I think 30/35lbs (my scale is in pounds so only know those numbers) mainly from eating a low calorie diet but also excercise.

Last year I just slowly dropped off eating well and started going back to bad, bad habits.

Tldr: I’ve basically put 25lbs back on.

This lunchtime I started back on the regime and went for a run in the freezing fog. Only managed a mile and a half at plod pace before I thought I was going to die.

Feel good to get this going again though. I hate feeling fat so need to make it sustainable if I drop it back off this year.

Little, slow and often is always good to avoid an early injury and getting pissed off with how hard it is. Also, find an even fatter mate to run with so you can patronise them about it.

I started running again (a few posts back) and can feel fitness creeping back. 52 in a couple of weeks so I think weight loss is harder than previous efforts.

Since Christmas I’ve substituted going out into the cold dark countryside for a Joe Wicks style YouTube workout in front of the telly.

Roll on lighter nights (& me :crossed_fingers:).

I love running but too much of it now and something always goes wrong with my legs. I hate gyms and bikes just don’t agree with me so a rower was the best thing I bought in ages. Also it’s a good way to consume terrible TV and not feel like a total waste.

For sure on the little and often.

I remember back in 2022 I dont think I could run a mile continously (quite hilly where I live which doesn’t help).

In a few months i could do 7 miles in my lunch hour pretty comfortably.

I’m just going to go a little further each time every few days and do skipping on other days. Worked for me before so I just need to get off my arse and do it again.

I had to stop completely in September after Achilles tendonitis and have completely blobbed out. Tired going up stairs. It’s so shit. Started fast walking in the new year and it might be time to say fuck it and run a bit again.

Just getting back on it myself after an enforced vasectomy break snowballed into nearly two months off.

Don’t think I’m going to be ready for this year’s Sheffield half though, which is in March instead of April.

If anyone needs a load of left foot only plantar fasciitis insoles let me know and I’ll post them :+1:

Playing 11 a side tomorrow as the team we started over summer that I’ve not played for yet are very short! Trying this taping method today to rest it out, feels a lot better than I was expecting - https://www.rdash.nhs.uk/documents/plantar-fasciitis-taping/

I must’ve posted this view before but fuck it.

If you’re ever in the Chepstow area for some reason I would urge you go up here and take this in. Pictures just don’t come close to showing how high up it is and how far you can see. Weather is perfect today too.

Spent all morning looking at spreadsheets somewhere in the background of this.
