Covid

Overheard the zoom call my Mrs was on with her boss and colleague early this morning. Those two fools were discussing how it’s “ridiculous that Boris is getting so much mate and pressure to resign”. According to them there isn’t anyone else out there who could run the country any better and that he couldn’t have done anything more to protect the UK from covid. Apparently “Hindsight is a wonderful thing and maybe we should have closed borders and started wearing masks earlier, but how were we meant to know?” :person_facepalming:t2::person_facepalming:t2::person_facepalming:t2:

Suzanne just sat there in silence and didn’t contribute at all. Then when the call finished she erupted in anger haha.

This is the line I keep hearing, I suppose it’s from people who voted Tory and are now feeling a bit bad about it. Apparently that line is good enough to mask all the mistakes that have been made, no so sure myself.

Boris saying March 8th is the earliest he’ll think about taking us out of Lockdown and reopening schools but it’s not guaranteed.

So what are we thinking then, April?

In time for the summer holidays? Haha.

My niece turns 4 in March. By which time there’s every likelihood she’ll have had half her birthdays in lockdown. Its fucked.

I think just call it for this year, what I’m hearing from people in school is that the average amount of students actually doing the work set is 5-10 in a class. Sack it off, everyone looses a year yes but this year has been so fucked anyway it’s pretty useless as is.

At least there would be some clarity, start again in september

Yeeeeeeah, bit of an issue with that…

I know I know.

I have it on good authority that Scottish unis won’t be doing F2F teaching until 2022. And that’s if students accept that they want to be on campus.

I’d much rather have these discussions once the cases and deaths are right down, forcing it to be planned now didn’t really work well the last time that happened and it became an almost daily question to the government as well.

At least there’s no tuition fees haha.

Yes there are.

Some students don’t pay tuition fees. It’s not like higher education is just free in Scotland.

“new variant”

I still can’t believe how long they kept plugging the fucking lunatic 5 day Christmas lockdown holiday for.

That’s mad.

Do you think they will keep this lockdown going longer in the hope we don’t have to do it again?
