Yeah that wasn’t very clear. I didn’t mean like literally while sat at the table - just that most people who were out and about in the indoor shopping area that had the bars and restaurants, most weren’t wearing masks.
Biggest load of horse shit.
One of our boy’s nursery staff tested positive, we then had to self isolate. During the last day or so my wife started to develop symptoms and we had to drive from Bristol to Abercynon for tests.
They came back negative thankfully, at the expense of a 110 mile round trip.
If you don’t have a car, you’re fucked basically.
Just came across this website that visualises the rate of spread in different countries.
Makes it more real seeing those totals getting bigger in real time.
Check out Scotland though, smashing the previous record…
Just downloaded the NHS app.
Postcode says medium risk.
Only works on iPhone 6s and newer???
Yeah or Android.
The iPhone 5 is 8 years old though so…
I guess low income groups and communities where the app is probably going to be most effective might struggle to have good enough phones to download it.
one of the main issues it that bluetooth is SHIT. it’s not fit for purpose. bluetooth cannot accurately determine distance at all and rinses power if heavily used
i think the majority of areas in the UK will be medium or high right now. we’re one of the lowest number areas in the UK and we’re still medium
The thing that annoys me with the app is that to do the check in aspect, you literally have to scan a code at the location you’re at - which I’ve never remembered to do nor have ever seen a code anyway.
It’d be great if you could add in the postcode after the fact
So you have to sign in to everywhere you go? If you don’t have the app or are not willing to give your details will you be refused entrance to places, like shopping? How long before there are protests/riots about the government wanting to keep track of your movements by using the hoax virus?
It’s tracks you via Bluetooth but also gives you the option to scan a QR code at specific venues. But I’ve never seen one of those codes.
I don’t really get how it’s supposed to work really. It’d only work as an auto contact tracing if the majority of people have it, but I can’t see the majority of people downloading it
Oh right, sounds like it’s doomed to fail. Bluetooth, huh? The fuck on I have trying to airdrop a photo or clip to someone stood next to me some days, haha.
How come you can’t stand outside the pub any more?
Whole family is self isolating after my son’s class was sent home. He’s got cold symptoms so we’re all having to do it until we can get him tested. Luckily I had an unused postal test kit we can do.
Most places won’t have put the posters up till today as the app wasn’t live. We held off on ours as we figured it’d just lead to confusion, they should all be up now.
Can’t speak for anywhere else obvs.
Oh ok makes sense.
My London borough has been testing the app for the last month but hadn’t really noticed anything different to usual
Oh yeah. It doesn’t bother me too much. I hardly drink any more and when I do go to a pub I hate standing up all night anyway. Partly due to being fairly short I think, standing around the bar is fucking annoying.
Is this just because you are a chuffer?
I just went for lunch scanned in with the app. But had to wear a mask to walk from the door to my table then put it on again when I went for a piss. Long - I only go for lunch early because it’s quiet.
