Covid

Just had a message from my doctors telling me I need an MMR vaccine. I already had the measles jab and I’ve had mumps as a kid . Not sure if they got a mix up so did some reading up and apparently the mmr jab is supposed to help prevent covid in adults .

Very confusing

How have you managed to not have it? Thought everyone got MMR. Now I’m wondering if there’s any I haven’t had.

Got my flu jab the other day, only took a minute but I had to wait for ages in a tiny boots pharmacy before while a bunch of sick people were coming in and out. Made me really nervous. Weird how paranoid/hypersensitive you get these days, I wouldn’t have been bothered a year ago.

Well I called my mum (used to be a midwife and health visitor) and she hadn’t heard of adults needing them . No one in the family has had MMR and my brothers are in their 30’s .
We had the single jabs not the combi MMR

MMR can prevent covid in adults? what what?

others in the thread talking about symptoms, it is still cold/flu season and there is a fuck ton of the usual crazy shit going about. symptoms are all basically the same as covid anyway, you’ll be fine

That’s annoying about cigarette smoke. Pretty sure they said smoking helped keep it away. I’m going to go with that anyway.

Although maybe that means if you walk into a cloud of smoke that somebody with the 'vid has just exhaled.
So you could probably catch it off somebody’s vape.

Defo off the vape, actual moisture which is probably perfect home for covid unless it’s bleach flavour

Wasn’t the cig smoke thing something put out there by an artist in France that made some sense to some scientists to investigate the idea?
Only for any stories about it to disappear, in a puff of smoke.

The nhs have always been big on quitting smoking for obviously health, but also the effects drain their services, so they wouldn’t want smoking promoted for the chance it would prevent covid for it then to potentially bite them in the arse with smoking related diseases later down the road.

Basically, smoking toughens you up.

Smoking hooky fags full of dirt and arsenic is keeping my Mother in law alive. I think if it does not cause any big issues, which it clearly does in most people, there are people who are held together by nicotine and repel everything else.

When my brother tested positive all he could smell was like a bleach smell

10pm curfew to be lifted in England..?

One step ahead of you up here.

Might nip to Edinburgh for a pint later.

Had results for my lads test, Positive. And i’m feeling worse so I’m assuming I have it. Now got headache, achey body all over, sore throat and a bit of a cough. We’ll all isolate regardless so i’m not going to bother leaving the house for a test.

Pubs are closed in Edinburgh, too. Cafe’s and restaurants still open + but there’s a sit-in alcohol ban. A couple of places are maybe doing take-away pints like earlier in the year but I’ve not seen it yet.

I know man, just joking. As if anybody would go to Edinburgh for a pint.

beyond supporting a business why would anyone buy a takeaway pint instead of a tin for a quarter of the price?

Probably for a packet of pub grub too
