Got an email from my daughter’s nursery saying they are reopening on the 1st of june. Not sure about this.
I’d tell them to have a nice time. No intention of sending my son back early. Although I said to my missus the other day, I’ve not heard of any stories of nursery workers Getting sick, several from one nursery getting sick or any out breaks like that. I assume many nhs staff have kids in nursery too. I’ve not read much need so it may have happened but occurred to me the other day. Open to correction on this btw
Had similar mail from my son’s school.
It’s going to have to happen.
Can’t say that I’m 100% comfortable with the idea and he could have been going throughout the whole lockdown given my wife and I are both considered keyworkers.
If not now, when?
He’s got to learn and I’ve got to get some work done.
I can’t be his teacher indefinitely and need to have some decent time to focus on my own job, which doesn’t happen while he’s about.
The unions are trying to push for September but they are weak and it will not happen.
I have seen all the risk assessments and stuff. It’s just grim.
I wouldn’t send my girl to school untill September.
The place will feel like a nazi training camp.
Seems our daughter’s school are being a bit more cautious. Only year six going back and not until the 8th then reviewing the situation after that. I’ll be happy with her going back once I know that infection rates in the community are relatively low. But round here, right now I’m not convinced of that at all.
It just feels like the government have convinced themselves that schools would be unlikely to be the seat of further outbreaks and there is some evidence to support that, but not nearly enough of it yet to my mind.
A third council has just said it will not be reopening schools. So the Government is looking like it’s on shaky ground here.
My sister is a teacher and she got an email today saying be ready to be back in on June 1. She’s not allowed to wear a face mask apparently and said the guidance that kids school uniforms should be washed every day is laughable as she has kids who barely get washed once a week, if at all.
Their recent track record with decision making in matters of this nature hasn’t been too great so I think they’d be wiser to hold off a little and wait for more evidence and data to come in.
Wasn’t it Gove some time back who told us not to listen to the experts?
Different subject matter but the same kind of thing going on.
my daughters nursery/school the head there is head of the teachers union for the county and he has said he could only take back 10% of the students. Roughly 40, because of social distancing but then he went on to mention becuase its a Victorian school the hallways are narrow and that poses more problems.
Apparently my son’s year are not included in the June return to school.
Oof.
I suppose that makes my mind up for me.
I’d be happy with my girls going back to school, but with one in Year 5 at Primary and one in Year 7 at Secondary, it looks like they won’t be going back any time soon. And if one goes back whilst one stays at home, my wife can’t any more work done, and I’m in the office already, so it doesn’t change the dynamic here.
The weird thing would be all the measures put in place would make it a very uncomfortable, and that they wouldn’t actually be learning anything, so they isn’t really any point to it. Also, I totally back that teachers aren’t happy with it and we shouldn’t be pressuring them into going back.
My Kids won’t be going back until i’m happy hundreds of people are not dying every day.
‘The science’ taking all the blame for all the failings of the government.
It’s easy and inconsequential to get angry at the science rather than the government.
It’s going to work as well.
My mum and step dad are morons and watch the briefing every day and update the family whats app group. They fall for every trap to make them think the government are doing a good job. “He’s handled this well, they’re doing the best they can” etc.
Me and my sisters just reply with stupid memes of Boris and they reply with stuff like ‘what is this left wing propaganda?’.
It’s sad but funny.
Aparently according to some people I follow and used to consider fairly intelligent on Instagram, gyms in America are reopening on June 1st. This seems like a fucking terrible idea. But you know, 'Merica!
True Guinea pigs. See how an enclosed room of sweaty out of breath people fair spreading particles of covid to one another.
Popcorn at the ready
Bet they are all armed to the teeth as well.
my american buddies keep responding to criticism with the figures that ‘per million’ they are far behind the UK and other european countries. i keep trying to point out that they’re also behind in time frame and 90,000 yanks have still died but it’s like some kind of race to the bottom with them always. gotta be no.1
Even so they’re kind of right and they’d really have to go some to beat our figures per million. But they’re a less densely populated country with a lof of people not using public transport etc.
