Dickies Honeymoon

Dated and disjointed overall feel to the video. Obviously some damn good skating in there but the editing sucked the energy out of it.

Music was dire for the most part.

I watched it once whilst kind of tired last night - this morning not much has stuck with me. I quite liked Jake Hayes ollieing things more than I expected to have done. It could have been down to his music being less offensive to my ear than what had preceded it, although I don’t even remember what the song was. Ronnie Sandoval was my favourite part. A park / vert section set to a Glen Campbell tune, who’d a thunk it? Maybe one of the reasons I liked those two sections could partly have been because the skaters weren’t too badly dressed in comparison to almost everyone else in the video. I know that’s pretty shallow but after all it is a clothing company video. Dickies clothing really is terrible.

Foy, VA, Guy, Knox and Dylan Jaeb did exactly what you’d expect them to do. All good and got a few oohs but not really that memorable the morning after, (apart from Guy’s paddling pool ride on combos).

Idk, the video was possibly hyped for too long leading to my expectations running high. I’ll give it another shot in its entirety and then I’ll more than likely never bother again. In the light of last month’s series of banger videos that were released this just wasn’t up there.

It’s obviously no Shrimp Blunt but I thought it was a pretty decent classically styled video that was sorely missing a slam section.

I enjoyed it after a couple of pints but Foy footage is mixed with Foy footage from last week, therefore is just a jumbled mess of pinched trucks on rails in my brain. I liked Press Rewind but can’t remember the rest of the music, I struggle with guitar stuff, it is the noise they make, so that’s in one ear and out the other (heh, more Del!).

I kinda put the disjointedness down to it being a clothing company and not a board team with a specific coherent direction, but I suspect that kinda thing can be managed via the editing phase.

Tough act to follow that one

Being bombarded with huge amounts of footage on a daily basis doesn’t help me. Everything bar the classics is just mixed up in my head now.

I watched it with the sound fairly low so I was just taking the skating in and I had no idea this was in the works so felt out of the blue so no expectations. Was surprised and liked it for it.

Agreed Hinson came out of that looking honourable. Good lad.

Agree also re Dickies vid - couldn’t make it to the end.

Fucking laughed hard at this.
The below is unconnected but made me chortle too

What I reckon first watch through:

• Very juiced on this Manderson part. Bit of me this.
• TK is a joke. How does he come up with this shit, let alone do it?!
• I can’t stand Vincent Alvarez’s style. Awful song. Skip.
• Dylan Jaeb is smooth as silk. Had no idea he was on Dickies. Reminds me of young Mike Mo. Prime Reynolds level FS Flip in there near the end too.
• Bit of a mosher vibe about Christian Henry’s tricks. I’m backing it.
• Savage credit card of the highest order! Big poppa clean as a whilstle.
• Frankie Villani - unique style and trick selection. Ender was fucked. Was there a line in there or all single clips? Polar oppositie of our boy TK!
• Ronnie Sandoval is the fucking boy. One of my favs. Has he done his knee again? Or is that brace after his previous injury?
• Frankie Spears wow. Seriously heavy. Half the tricks he did were ender worthy!
• Foy is levels. Unsurprising, but gnarly as fuck stunts.

Other thoughts:
Who the fuck was on music supervision for this one?! At least it wasn’t all midwest emo I guess.
Thrasher really monetizing the fuck out of this. YouTube ad’s between every single section!
45 mins flew by!
Not bad for a trouser video!

Yeah he hurt his knee pretty badly a while ago, I think all or most of this footage was shot after the injury.

He looks well Mexican gangster with those neck tats and the moustache!

Does Frankie Spears have one of the worst styles in professional skateboarding? Quite possibly…

I’m going to give this a watch in my next days off, as well as Headz.

When was Dickies demoted by consensus to being shite? I quite like their stuff for the most part, just haven’t got the right build for their trousers!

About half a dozens posts back ^^^

I don’t have the right buttocks for their trou. But I wear the shorts.
I liked the vid, I guess I’m not as fussy or jaded as some. And I like Bad Brains. Jamie Foy’s front nose was spesh, as was Christian Henry’s wallie board 5050

Same, mainly the small/no logo stuff. Skate hoody decent and jacket I have both decent and plain. Jeans were a bit oversized so I do look a bit try hard/clown with them on but they’re comfy as hell.

Hahaha, I basically did this to my kids a few weeks back. My daughter was rolling her eyes. Son laughing.

I think I was being sigma cringe or something :man_shrugging:

For the record - I love 874s and wear them for work every day. Everything else is bit odd mind.

Yeah that front noseslide, How do you still slide another 8’ round a corner when you’ve already fallen out of the trick. Looked incredible.

Can we expect Chris Roberts mentioning how he could do the same trick?

SANDOVAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL

Love Ronnie

Quite entertained by the whole video, got to watch it fairly unhindered on a flight, with music, so that was a treat.

Enjoyed Foy and Knox too. villani’s ender was sick. But Ronnie was the best.
