Drum machine / synth / sampler geekery

They are stereo channels so looking at the rolands they are Balanced single socket outs so ideally you want a single balanced cable that splits into 2 mono jacks to put into the 5/L, 6/R on the mixer.

Beautiful. Thank you all for your help.

Noob doesn’t come close. I’m basing my navigations around this mixing desk on my DJing days and experience of (comparatively simple) DJ mixers from then.

It should be fairly plug and play really, no gains on the stereo channels so balance with the instrument volumes. It’s made slightly awkward because of space saving on those small instruments so you don’t get dedicated sockets, everything is squeezed with multiple uses.
Your mixer has inbuilt FX so could your reverb issue be that? I notice the FX level is at max. So you channel FX level could be above zero too?

The reverb issue was happening before I figured out how to apply desk fx. So you’re right. Currently the settings in the photo does show it pretty maxed, but that was because I was exploring it on the drum machine and td3.

I’m good as long as I don’t touch the reverb on the synth itself. As soon as I do it seems to boost the signal hugely so it gets painfully loud and drowns it in reverb instantly.

I’ll obtain a couple of mini jack to dual mono TRS cables and report back.

Appreciate the help y’all. Steep old learning curve :disappointed_relieved:

Nice one! Getting the hang of it then?

Having fun, learning, sometimes making noises which don’t sound shit… yeah!

Glad this thread exists or I don’t think I would have taken the plunge.

Might as well drop this here

Also did a second run of this CD, holla if anyone wants

Fanks man :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve only got that ‘all in’ 4 bar loop so far, but going to work on expanding and arranging it.

I’ve been trying to finish that jungle tune I posted a bit of too. Have reworked some bits of it.

Was trying to work out how to make a backwards dead dread-y bass noise for it. I’ve gotten an approximation of it, but needs tweaking.

Yeah that sounds really nice. you’ve got the hang real quick.
Freindly advice is to try do some arranging sooner rather than later while it’s still fresh and new to your ears. Don’t over listen to the loop. Make a few B-C sequences that are different enough for fun switching. Otherwise if you sit on that loop for a while it gets harder and harder to hear anything past it and it just embedds in your brain and can just become a static track that doesn’t go anywhere.
It’s happened to me loads of times and it’s hard to break out of a looping sequence once it’s rooted in your head.

That sounds like great advice, thank you. You and @jimvo have been very helpful during this whole exploratory process.

Jungle is well hard to do well i find. I’ve done about 1 I like, many failed efforts

I can’t seem to replicate or ape any genre, you’d think it’d be simple to do some types of music but my head won’t allow it. Everything just ends up how it ends up.

Sunday arvo acid.

‘Live’ jamming with a bit of a repetitive acid line because I can’t remember how track mode works on the tb3 and I’ve only got one pair of hands and a slow brain.

That’s really nice. Kinda jealous of your fast learning!

Fyi to chain td3 patterns, just hold down 2 or more when you select pattern
