Reading about Wig Worland getting excited by Ipswich while eating my Shreddies.
Excellent work Build.

Planned to go into the office today for the first time this year (I’ve got 3 months left on my contract and starting to worry no one knows who I am), but got the notification this was being delivered so sacked it off to make sure I got it.
Have only had a skim through but this is absolutely phenomenal, can’t put into words the level of praise build deserves for this. Almost wish it wasn’t such a scorcher of a bank holiday so I could just lock in this weekend
You’ve got some very good press for this Neil, is this NB pushing it so much, or the publishers? (Both I guess) Unheard to get this much exposure of our scene.
Also was the car theme intended or coincidental?
The publisher send a press release out, but other people just knew about it anyway.
What car theme? Definitely not intentional.
Just noticed a lot of car skating shots, along with the cover.
Cars?
This is possibly similar to the Horsely circle-in-every-image conspiracy.
Cars. I’m not imagining it there are quite a few
Cars. Jumping on cars
Cars were a bit more skateable back then though, not like these jelly moulds they have now.
Loving the book so far. I like that the interview questions aren’t printed, it’s like you’re just getting little stories on a theme.
Obviously had to skip to the 2001 chapter first as that’s my first year skating, but there’s so much stuff in here. 87-97 is a big blank spot for me in terms of UK skating, compared to knowing about the US scene, so hopefully going to fill in big gaps in my knowledge
Nice one. The publisher wanted me to add stuff to identify everybody, but that would have taken up word count and I think when people speak it becomes clear who they are (if it matters) and what they were doing. Anybody who doesn’t know about skateboarding doesn’t need to know because it’s more about the story being told than who the person is.
Anyone going to Welcome on Thursday? Hoping to pop across
I’m hoping to get there
Yep. Will be there with Magee, Dale and I think Baines will be coming. Will also be a good Leeds turnout I’m sure.
Nice one. Magee and @anonymity in conversation, with (I’m sure) input from other notable attendees. The NB# shoe will be available there, and there’s a Yorkshire-based Leo Sharp and Wig Worland gallery show too,
Podcast with myself, @buildafire & Joel about Elsewhere just went up (also features field recordings from the Aries event)
Was originally gonna be in London tomorrow but managed to get a Friday morning train so see yas there!
Ace evening at Welcome - great turnout, hot & great chat from Neil, Percy, Magee & @anonymity on Leeds / Yorkshire’s historic & contemporary context in the UK scene.
Think it was recorded too.
