Exactly! Ended up slicing then with my razor to get rid

I avoid bubbles by looking what I’m doing when applying grip tape.

Jessup ultra grip is coarser than normal Jessup but not as coarse as Mob, doesn’t peal off and stays grippy. Nothing wrong with normal Jessup, just another option.

Oh god do I have to buy these now

Because I will also have to get new trucks

Maybe will just try those bones 97s

I probably shouldn’t admit to knowing this, but these are nothing new. Freestylers have been making these type of wheels for themselves for years.

I mean, as Andy says…how else are you gonna coconut wheelie? Right?

They look like Spitfore lockins, with a straight cut edge on the inside. Meant to lock in easier on grinds. They’re 97a like the Bones. The Bones are good, they take the edge off crusty spots and still slide well.

They remind me of Variflex Street Rage 2’s.

Those were a clone of Powell Mini Cubics…no, sorry, not Mini Cubics, Bones Threes!

Well, there you go. - the circle is now complete.

Without turning this into the Four Yorkshiremen sketch, Bones wheels were well out of my league and the Variflex ones I had were secondhand.

Same. First wheels I bought were Pacer Hardcores and I couldn’t believe how fast they were when I replaced the hard plastic wheels on my Skeleton Skateboards ‘Radical Dog’.

I got a Variflex ‘Spectra’ for my birthday after that and it had black Street Rage 2 wheels on it. They seemed really slow, so I swapped them for the Pacers. Looking back it might have been because I had NMB bearings in the Pacer wheels that they felt faster and no other reason.

Not nostalgic for that era. Pretty much all my 80s skateboards sucked.

…Mad Skull. It also came with all the plastic ‘trimmings’ - most of which were hollow.

All those market clones - Turbo II’s / etc. There must be many, many (#Lassard) similar stories out there.

Yeah the hollow rails. Literally everyone was like ‘Oh boardslides are a thing, let’s try it!’…rails break on first attempt.

Haha - yes, exactly!

My first half decent board was a variflex speed freak with those rage wheels. First decent wheels I got were white Bullets. 66mm!

Board must’ve weighed a ton! But went like shit off a shovel

When did wheels get so expensive? Just went to buy a larger wheel as I didnt get on with these 52mm I got for the new setup and everything is like £60.

Shows how little hardware I’ve bought over the past 5 years but I swear a standard set of spitfires used to cost like £35

BITD you could buy single wheels

And when Real came out with the ridiculously tiny 53mm ‘Real Small Wheels’ they had to give you six to make up for the fact you weren’t getting your fair value in urethane!
