Ah man judgement night soundtrack was iconic.
De la soul and teenage fanclub!
I think I saw the film but nope, can’t remember one thing about it.

IIRC Emelio Estervez was chased around by Ice T. Dude caught up in da hood kinda thing. I’d hazard a guess it’s a bit shit.

Related - every now and again, I hear a Bjork & David Arnold song called Play Dead, which I know is from a movie called The Young Americans, but I’ve never seen it, never heard anybody talk about it, read a review, etc. Seems that it was tacked onto later releases of Debut as a bonus track.

As you were.

I bought the Hurricane Streets Soundtrack because a 411vm used three or four songs from it in one issue. Still never seen it (though I’m sure the songs are used in the film).

I have. Stumbled across it in the TV listings while I was at uni. It’s not absolute turd but it is a bit turd. Just revel in the soundtrack and let the ignorance of whether the film is any good or not add to its mistique.

hooray!
do you remember whether any of the rock/ rap soundtrack is played during the film?

this is my feeling for Judgement Night soundtrack - it exists as a marketing tool, rather than the actual used-in-the-film soundtrack

Ive had the soundtrack for years. Borrowed from a friend and never got around to giving it back. Probably never going to watch the film.

I remember seeing the soundtrack to last action hero and being pretty impressed with the line up.

Just done a quick google and i think ive changed my mind.

The soundtrack is deffo in the film! From memory, I think pretty much all of it gets used.
I used to have the film on Laserdisc and have the CD of the soundtrack.

For the most part, that soundtrack is actually sick.

Del and Dinosaur Jr is epic…and De La Soul with Teenage Fanclub, too. Thos are probably the best two tracks with Cypress Hill & Sonic Youth close behind.
Onyx & Biohazard is a perfect pairing. Sir Mix A Lot is a lot of fun with Mudhoney, too.

Umm…The Helmet x House of Pain track is actually pretty good…what else…
Oh yeah…the Slayer and Ice T song is like 3 Slayer songs kinda, with Ice T rapping instead.

It’s kind of one of my all time great soundtracks.

I’ve seen the film a lot but only tried it once since the 90s and it really hadn’t held up at all.

I’ve seen The Young Americans

In the 90’s, other than a bit of skating I was a bit of a loner and immersed myself in films, tore through the racks of my loval video rental shop like a madman, saw some great films that loads of people never saw, and a hell of a lot of films that were not great. Bonus points for anything with Tim Roth, Harvey Keitel, De Niro and so on, gritty New York films were a favourite

Sorry, went off on a tangent there

@Londonskater ahh, you ruler! thank you.
im so curious as to how they shoehorned the tunes in

edit: this video uses the De La/ Teen Fanclub/ Tom Petty track to great effect

The soundtrack was commissioned for the film.

The film is basically Emelio Estefez (spelling) in the wrong place at the wrong time and Dennis Leary and his gang are hunting him down in a neighbourhood.
It’s basically The Raid, I guess. But across an industrial part of town.
And the chase sequences have the heavier Slayer/Onyx stuff…and the bosses drug den has the Cypress Hill tunes.
I don’t think there is a single live performance going on in there - as in some sort of Blade-esque nightclub with De La and Teenage Fanclub playing live to drugged up underworld ravers.
That would have been sick.

Yep! It does!

Wait, did it not have Del and Dinosaur jr too?

That reminds me of Crooklyn. Never heard anything about it other than Time Has Come Today from Jamie Thomas’ Thrill of It All section. Looking at the soundtrack list, there’s a lot of skate videos which have used those tunes, all in the classic funk & soul vein.

Veeery brief excerpts if at all. I only remember hearing the Onyx/Biohazard, Slayer/Ice T and the Helmet/House Of Pain ones to be truthful.
