Next lot should be shortly announced but most of it is sorted start of the season. So no real evil plan.

From what I’ve seen the paper talk is that both sky and BT want to scrap the box office as it’s proving more hassle than it’s worth…

Sorry for the late reply @nedertron - I spent the afternoon watching the game in a marquee at my local and managed to drink my body weight in Guinness. Wasn’t the most thrilling game but I think we controlled the game but got sloppy after we scored. Not sure it was a free kick but Rui should of done better. If I was a Newcastle fan I’d be happy with the point for sure.

SKY guy just explained to me that the Box Office matches were games that were not going to be televised anyway.
I had to call them because of bill shock and it came up in conversation.

Heard this many, many times now, doesn’t mean they should be priced like that.

I completely agree.

What I’ve been saying from the start. Thing I keep explaining is that sky and BT are just facilitating it. It’s the PL who made the decision and pricing structure.

Rupert isn’t any part of Sky either… Comcast bought Sky about 18 months ago.

I could be wrong, but the only money they make is from advertising during the box office. But that’s also why the production value etc is very low too. And again I’m not arguing that it’s too expensive. But basically again saying it’s not down to them it’s down to the league.

Bottom line is, they’re games that wouldn’t of been on anyway. The best thing that could happen is they scrap the charge all together, but if they decided to keep it they 100% need to look at massively reducing it. I think most fans would accept a weekend box office pass for £15.

Only other way round it is if the PL stream it themselves for whatever charge. The EFL have done it with the league cup. I paid a tenner to watch wolves lose to stoke a few weeks back…

I’m by no means naive to the struggles people are going through at all right now, I just think people are pointing the finger in the wrong direction on this one. The league have a lot to answer for. Fingers crossed they scrap the charge.

Wow

Especially mad considering how often Arsenal struggle to be creative. Also interesting to hear Arteta go on record as saying it’s purely for football reasons with all manner of pros saying that’s not the case.

Bartomeu gone, so Lionel Messi staying at Barca next year now presumably? Really can’t imagine him somewhere else.

City took a while but have pulled Marseille apart.

I’ve been reading reports that Bartomeu signed Barcelona up for this European Super League as one of his final actions.
There have been rumblings of a ESL for a while, I really hope the current Champions League doesn’t get binned just to bring this in.

Champions League is UEFA, Euro Super League is FIFA. They’ve often been at loggerheads about pissing contests and pointless bullshit/jobs for the boys/assorted corruption.

Is the ESL supposedly going to be an actual league? Or some weird CL style deal?
