England in a final is not even a once in a life time thing! I just don’t get how people aren’t stoked!?

It’s amazing, it wasn’t so long ago that we were desperate to see England reach just a semi final.

Hahahahahaha

Going to miss the first England final in his life because he’s boxed himself in with racism.

Dude looks wrecked my Dads older than him.

Fucking hell he’s got an issue with what he sees as pointless, politically-motivated gestures has he? Righto :+1:

No irony there then.

Edit: just read this Boris Johnson poised to declare extra bank holiday if England win Euro 2020 | Euro 2020 | The Guardian

If we’re playing that game, I’ll defy the cnut by going into work anyway.

Bloke on five live right now moaning about Gareth Southgate saying he’s not a good manager/tactically naive etc.

Unreal.

i mean, i said that myself about 3 weeks ago but generally more about his team selection. now that he’s kept the back 6 or so players intact we have built a good core team and pushed on from that really well. i still argue that ward-prowse would’ve been a good option as well as a striker to play when kane is being rubbish (would’ve liked someone bamford or watkins to go) but whatevs. we’re in the final. trust in the gareth

The passing was horrendous at times vs Croatia and Scotland, so I can see why people had serious doubts after those games even if we weren’t conceding but if that’s what was required to get the team to a final then I’m more than ok with it!

I don’t like Sir Gareth’s style of play at all, but I respect it.

yeah that was when we averaging something like 3 shots a game which is some loser shit. we’ve come better. it annoyed me before the tournament when we hadn’t built any kind of team and were just chopping up the selection constantly. some of the guys on here said there was no point playing his proper team because they’d be tired or whatever but that doesn’t fly with me. you need to build a team and it’s taken this long for them to build their relationships on the field. we’ve been lucky we haven’t met a strong enough team to beat us and now have that cohesion

I don’t think that has to be taken as some kind of massive slight on the team either; playing these games at Wembley and not facing the top teams has been very lucky but so many teams need that luck to win tournaments and as many have already said, England have had more than their share of bad luck in the past.

Now I just hope they’re able to take the chance in front of them, it won’t be easy though.

It does the job, International tournament football is a completely different beast to club football.
Gareth has found a style that achieves results, with the players he has at his disposal.

Yes, this is what i’ve been saying since the first game.

Let’s be real, Sterling didn’t dive and roll about on the floor. Yes it was a soft penalty, but there was enough contact to go down. It was the referee who made the error.

I’m confident that an Italian player buying a soft penalty in the 86th minute will be described as smart/streetwise and absolutely no one will have an issue with it. Confident.

you keep banging on about the Italian cheating thing and clearly you’re smart enough to know the difference but just in case -

  1. an English player in extra time running through the box, feeling the slightest bit of contact and going down. the defender shouldn’t have made the contact. the referee could have taken the time to look at the VAR screen. it was soft as fuck but still a penalty and Sterling didn’t roll around on the floor like he had broken his hip

  2. the entire Italian team, 15 minutes before the end of the match, throwing themselves to the ground with or without contact and then play acting as if they had been shot in order to break up the play and waste time

Both examples are “gamesmanship” or “cheating”. one of them is within the rules, the other one is just utter shithousery

The fact that cheating is sort of baked into the game is one of the main reasons why I don’t like it.

The reward of a penalty for falling over when one atom of a sock touches one atom of another players sock is too high.

The Italians are the bigger bunch of cheating bastards so I’ll hope they lose more than England.
