From a purely selfish point of view, stoked West Ham dropped points today.

Had a great afternoon/evening yesterday despite the result. We played some nice stuff but no end product. Chelsea were too good for us.

Met up with some mates including one who lives in London and I haven’t seen in ages, had a distanced pint outside the Barton Arms in the rain and a banging chicken tikka and chips at the ground.

Lots of people with clipboards checking Covid passes on the doors. Just done a LF test and it’s negative. Stoked!

Coming back from being down too draw, almost feels like a win… almost! Haha.

Great game but if we don’t buy heavily in Jan now we are fucked.

So in one day Newcastle have gone from zero covid cases to “covid cases and injuries” such that they could only bring 13 players to the Everton match. The FA granting postponement seems to be so utterly random. Other teams have fielded teams with half their under-23 players and a bench of kids but Newcastle have injuries to key players and its off? Wankers. You can see why managers are getting vexed by it (yet say shit about the FA and get fined)

Fuck that we’ve been absolutely done over recently.

FC Saudi Arabia moaning about decisions? Norwich played two games in three days with no full squad of senior players but you can’t? Is it that they can’t pay the FA or what?

Have you seen the decisions we’ve had?

Get to fuck. FC Saudi Arabia what you on about.

What’s the difference in going from no Covid to Covid in a day? Sure that’s happened to plenty of other people in the U.K.

A Premier League statement said it had “accepted Newcastle United’s postponement application as the club does not have the required number of players available for the match (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper), due to Covid-19 cases and injuries”.

We have about 6/7 first team players out anyway, plus Covid. Whose to say the Under 23’s don’t have it as well.

Get the point you’re trying to make but being someone who tested negative one day with no symptoms to positive the day after with no symptoms without even leaving the house I can see how rife it is right now…

I’m torn on the whole thing tbh. We’ve postponed a game cause of it. 6 players out injured and 6 players covid positive so didn’t have enough players to play. Initially I was all for playing the kids, but then can only see that benefiting the bigger clubs who have huge squads of talent. And also I had an element of “if you can’t beat then, join them” kick in too!

Newcastle are just stalling until the January transfer window. Then they can splash out on Mbappe and Harland to put them in a better position to play these postponed fixtures!

We’ll get to see if he can do it against Stoke on a cold wet Wednesday night.
