His trash talking has earned him a burger deal in Argentina and in the advert he repeats some of his famous lines. He was a national hero even before this world cup. My best mate is Argentinian and is in Buenos Aires right now partying it up - they love Martinez because he’s a fun character
I’d argue his antics are considerably less bad than the diving, rushing the referee, injury feigning etc that most outfield players get up to
Just admit you have a man crush on him like the rest of us and move on

A few seasons back Martinez was on loan at Rotherham, followed by leaving Arsenal for Villa as he wasn’t getting the game time and now winds up winning the WC. Can’t front on that.
One thing though, he always reminds me of an accountant who’s a secret serial killer. He’s got such a normal, average head on him, but with the cold dead eyes of a psycho murderer.

Just adding, what a great game that was. Properly lived up to all the hype surrounding it and it was wicked to see both teams still going for the win in 90mins and then in extra time, rather than facing penalties.
