i swear only England fans would boo their own team for going one nil down ten minutes into a game against a very strong side. Boggles my mind

I reckon the Spaniards might too to be fair.

Or do the hankies thing at least.

I’m sure Brazil fans did after they went down 1-0 to Japan.

Well at least they both have some grounds for exceptionalism, football wise. Don’t know what our excuse is

What did Kane shout at the crowd after the second? ‘And what?’ or ‘What now?’ I took it to be about the boos and him having a go back.

Some list.

Could see Messi on double figures by the end, with Cape Verde next

I was wondering if they might rest him.

Argentina got a very nice draw

Avoided the result and just watched it all.

Nice to see the underdog get a smash and grab win

  1. Fair play to DR Congo for playing a proper match. They just ran out of gas after about 70 mins.
  2. Kane trips over the grass first and then turns into ecco the dolphin. Not a pen.
  3. I am stunned at how bad they were in the first twenty minutes. Basic skills gone awry.
  4. The ‘it’s coming home-o-meter’ has gone ice cold. The defence is not good.
  5. Kane’s second was a belter. Fair play.
  6. Gordon was quite good today. That position is a real conundrum.

The Mexico game is going to be a serious test.

At home. At altitude, against one of the few teams with 9pts in the group and who have yet to concede.

They have Cabo Verde, then either Australia or Egypt then Switzerland/Algeria/Colombia/Ghana (it wont be Ghana) in the quarters.

Colombia have been good and had a great 0-0 the other day, but apart from that, that part of the draw it seems the most straightforward to the semi’s (on paper)

Never in doubt tonight!

Wasn’t stonewall but could have been easily given with no complaints too. Kane got the ball, keeper took him out. Kane just made it look like he was buying it too much but the contact was still there.

Kane stonewall pen. No 2 ways about it. VAR bottled it.

I’d put a dog collar on Kane that zaps him if he drops too deep away from the opp goal. He’d score even more goals for us!

He fucked it by planting his trailing foot where he did. Made it seem unnatural. Definitely a pen on first contact but he made it look like a dve.

Not sure how imaginary card waver got away without one though…

It’s that weird grey area where Ref gives No Pen on field, but VAR don’t feel it’s “clear and obvious” enough to ask him to come to the monitor for a second look.

Edit: But then the TV keeps showing slow motions replays that prove the refs decision was incorrect.

Stonewall penalty :joy: if the keeper had got his hands out of the way quicker Kane would’ve still gone down exactly the same way because he dived. Just would’ve looked even stupider than it did already

Wasn’t a pen

It wasn’t a pen and neither was Ghana’s one… pen karma has been restored.
