Any tests needed? “ignore those stats doc”

Did any of you watch when you got up knowing the score before watching?

Work partner just watched it and knew the score but lost it’s excitement quite a bit. I stayed up to watch and even I was on the edge of my seat and I haven’t bothered much with this world cup. The end just expecting them to knock one or two in in the last few mins was excruciating.

Stuff like this is going to make it tricky to hate the guy come Saturday but I shall do my best!

Can’t hate him. Appreciate the players coming through to take the mantle from Messi and Ronaldo.

Saturday should be sick

I think Don and Fifa are going to regret this. They are both running on hubris and not reading the room at all. Football isn’t going to have it and Don can’t get away with the shit he pulls at home every day like this for much longer either.

It’s just blatant cheating. People have much less of a stomach for it in sport than they do in their politics. You’d think it would be the other way

I feel like I’m not appreciating Messi and Ronaldo’s last ever World Cup enough. Ronaldo has said this is his last, I’d imagine it’s the same for Messi now he’s taking it easier in America. Love them or hate them, two of the best ever bowing out together. Ronaldo probably tonight against Spain.

If England do beat Norway they’ll get Argentina, oof.

watching the highlights, how the fuck did Mexico get a penalty?? that’s ridiculous

Free kick they won against Saka was shocking too.

It was a pen on review but was too soft to overule the refs orig decision imo. So it wasn’t

the red card was fair but it was certainly a less bad tackle than the Balogan one. can you imagine if this red card was overturned? absolutely no basis for it whatsoever and it’d be completely unfair. the Balogan one is even worse

Absolute madness

has FIFA said exactly what grounds the US had for appeal and why they granted it? he goes over the ball and breaks someones ankle with a stamp, studs out. there’s no defence

I hear people saying Messi did the same/worse and didn’t get a red card so Balogan’s shouldn’t stand. No you should maybe retroactively punish Messi then, not just let everyone get away with it because one mistake was made!?

His leg was not on the floor so it was dangerous but it was straight but then rolled/bounced off the ball and angled up. Unlucky but I guess it was a red in result. Kanes foul was not a pen at all. Not even a foul. Both went for the ball, just unlucky one leg was behind the other. Just occupational hazard.

this. it wasn’t even a foul

They’re giving no explanation. Not actually over-ruling the decision either. They’re " suspending " the suspension for a year and if he does anything similar it will be re-instated. Some clause they’ve never ever used before. Complete bollocks in other words. They’ll not live this down

Not sure why you are all questioning Fifa’s decision. It’s just another example of Trump being the world’s biggest corrupt narcissist and an association that accepts it.

Just add it to their tallies.

I reckon there’s been more during this tournament just less obvious. The whole treatment of the Iranian team was pretty shameful.

I would not be surprised if Trump tries to get the US to win the whole thing by any means necessary.

Don’t worry about it if you can’t get why reaching into sport with that kind of corruption is a new frontier. I would be worried if people weren’t fuming

You’re giving Don too much credit imo he’s not that all powerful and this won’t stand

So it’s been suspended for a year haha, what made up bullshit is that.
