General Election '24

At the most. I’ve also heard 3 to 7… so I’ve gone for the highest guess. As there might be silent voters that will never admit to voting for them in public but I’d expect much lower.

Plus Farage is a grifter. There is no way he is going to stick around for the long haul. Just look at the collapse of UKIP. These fly by night parties are nothing without a figure head like him. These people tend to be out for themselves more than the party too. That’s why they’ll keep failing.

I don’t think Farage will ever be PM either but it feels like the Tories will swerve further right to get all the racists back on board.

With their record on immigration (all time high numbers), I just don’t think that option is open to them. I think their best bet is to try as much of the stuff that’ll appeal to older people to secure votes; the triple lock pension etc.

If labour are smart they’ll introduce some immigration policies and cut off farage.

Especially when farage deserts them to go blow smoke up trumps ass .
Like he always does , grifts and leaves a mess for others to clear up .

Are people tuning in to tv coverage tonight/all night? I might give the Channel 4 thing a watch up until midnight or so. Shame they’re lumping in Gogglebox with it, however.

I was going to ask this.

I think Nadine Dorries(???) Is a part of the coverage of this.

I think I’ll do my British duty and stick with the BBC and see if Laura K sheds a Tory tear.

ITV’s looks insufferable with guests including - Nicola Sturgeon, George Osborne, Kwasi Kwarteng and Boris’ ‘ex-comms guru’ Guto Harr.

going to vote and seeing Liz Truss’ name on the ballot paper makes me so hopeful that she’s going to lose. big reform vote round here so hopefully it splits her demographic. let’s go yellow

What level of brain damage do you need to vote for Liz Truss today?

What’s worse, reform or tory truss? Not sure myself. But a lot of people around here will be wondering which of those two are better :scream:

People who like both those things will probably vote for both and have their vote voided.

Mum voted Tory

disown!

I just don’t get it tbh. My in-laws are either Tory or Reform I think. Because Tories did such a good job…..

Bring on the nightmare.

Always have a big piss up round my mates to commiserate the usually inevitable tory win but the one time they aren’t going to I’ve got norovirus and will be spending it curled up trying not to shit myself instead

To be fair last time I ended up throwing up all over his downstairs loo which is coincidentally what I was doing from 1am this morning anyway

Might watch a little bit, maybe until 1am.

My old man used to stay up when I was little but he was a Labour Party person. Used to go posting leaflets with him when I was very young. Being surrounded by politics when I was little sort of put me off for the most part.

Getting nervous. What if the polls for 2 straight years have been totally and utterly wrong.

Will set an alarm for 2.30/3am because 10pm until then is pretty much dead time.
