Quick skate at my favourite car park this afternoon.
Fun fact about it: a curb there was definitely been brick rubbed and lacquered about 5 years ago but I’ve never seen anyone skating there and I’ve been going there really regularly since Covid. It’s in that small village close to the border where nobody skates. Weird.
Found a can of anti-rust Epoxy spray in my garden shed, threw that on a dry curb there, we’ll see if it works.
yeah man, when I get some money together I’ll do it for sure
Not really skating but I just bumped into @sk8arrog8 out filming on my way home from yoga hashtag midlife
Penciled in a few sessions after work this week. There is one thing I wanna film but will basically be determined on whether I can be fucked or not the minute I turn up for a session. I’m gunna try.
I need a yoga session after that. Legs are toast!
Get the line?
Got a make but maybe not THE make
3 hours. Tiring. Stoked though. Almost, almost, got the back board fakie 5-0, kinda not really trying but just throwing an attempt out here and there. If I can get them how I want I’ll be suuuuper stoked.
Need to film stuff but enjoying myself too much.
Nice evening with @KeithBeef ![]()
Carrying a few knocks and bruises after Tuesday. Ice pack time!
Feeling it this morning. Sore toes, knees, hips and back.
Skating the block is just what I needed to get myself to put some effort in.
Heading out tomorrow to go skate a few different parks so might try and film something if I can get myself gassed up enough.
Wanna try and get something on this spine thing or put the side of it, as long as I can care / pump whatever fakie at it might get something. Looks tight on this side and don’t really fancy looping out and dying on it.
Was out for a few hours last night. Had a normal skate then started playing with a phone gimble thingy that I bought for the tracking so I could self film without having a static cam. Works alright, needs some refinement on the set up (meaning me reading the instructions) but it worked really smoothly. Didn’t film anything trick-wise.
I’d like to go out tonight but don’t think thats gonna happen. Sort of need to rest too.
To be nosey, I’d like to know more about this.
Yeah, sure, its probably more up your street and you’ll probably know what you’re doing. I get these things with the intention of utilizing them but often realise I just like skating and dislike filming and seeing myself skate. Anyhow…
DJI Osmo Mobile 7P gimbal. It has a tracker, small tripod, extension pole and various filming modes, plus you can use it to keep your phone charged too. What I didn’t like with a tripod was it is difficult to get certain things filmed with a static cam unless you have someone filming, which I don’t like for a number of (personal***) reasons. The intention is getting lines - so as a rough example which may or may not be achievable for me would be 50-50 a quarter, ollie up onto a ledge, back 180 off ledge and fakie kickflip on the flatbank.
To get the ollie up and back 180 off is possible with a static tripod cam, but you have to be at quite a shallow angle facing the length of the ledge so it doesn’t really work. In theory with this thing it’ll track and cover the quarter, ledge and flatbank by panning and covering the obstacles. Just dicking about with it last night I was able to get tracked from one end of the skatepark to another, no problem. I did seem to get a little confused with other people so it might be more suitable when you’re alone, but I think the teething issues can be ironed out in the settings. It did wonder upwards a little when going over the pump hump but what I gather from the instructions the up/down tilt can be fixed so it just pans left to right when tracking - if that works it could be feasible to maybe try a fisheye for example.
Early days yet though and it depends upon how much patience I have!
*** I feel like I am wasting peoples time, never happy with anything I film, if I’m not done in 5 tries I start to get irritated etc etc
3 parks down today with a little crew been really really fucking fun.
Thanks - I’ll look these up.
But..
Bwaahahahahha!!
Not often.
Skated 5 days in a row last week/earlier this week but had to stop as I have some kind of ingrown toenail which is painful. Last day of my week off tomorrow, fuck it, might power through that and treat myself to a quick skate.
Front foot catch my guys haha. Nothing good - just hyped I’m 36 years old and still have lots of different friends to go skate with and piss myself laughing all day and not feel sad, angry or bummed out once.
Therapy.
Did an hour and a bit tonight. Bit more gimble testing ![]()
Dead on my legs so look like shit on a skateboard.
My legs are still dead from Thursday. You are a machine!
