Few questions about backstop live right now. Boris saying he believes that the EU will compromise and he can work out a free trade agreement.

LOL.
He can believe what he likes.

Gatt24 can’t be used in the event of a no deal.
The withdrawal deal is the time we can use to try and work out the future trading relationship.
He can’t get the withdrawal deal through parliament.

Snookered on all balls.

So he’s just Theresa May in trousers with a stupid blond wig then?

Boris must believe he can wangle something as he made his move for PM and he didn’t before. His gungho style will get results, not sure it’s the results he wants but it sure is going to be MJ popcorn

Yeah I think that’s a big problem no matter what your view is on them or Brexit, if they made this easy for the UK then it would send out a pretty shocking message, especially given all the other issues going on. That was an issue on day 1 nevermind 3 years later.

Will he resign if he fails on his deadline then? I doubt it…

If he’s even still in the job by then, it’s Boris (October is a long way away in the Boris world). I don’t think he can handle the scrutiny of being PM. Everything he does now is going to be watched like a hawk. Before he could make a gaff, disappear for a week or two till it was forgotten about, then bounce back. No such luxury now. He’s going to be hounded day and night for the slightest thing. Every word and action. I don’t think he’s had to deal with real pressure a day in his life.

I reckon with the people he’s loaded up his cabinet with, and including himself, they’re doing a Cameron and trying to attract the followers of Fromage.
Before with Cameron and the referendum promise it was an effort to take the UKIP voters and this time of course, The Brexit Party voters, basically the same fucking lot of Fromage loyalists.
People who like Farage do also seem to have a love for Boris and Rees-Mogg and, voila, suddenly there they are at the front of the party at a time when there is a possibility of a GE. How convenient.

Anyone know if the Tories planning on blocking No Deal can actually do that? But then again if we haven’t agreed an extension it would be No Deal anyway?

There’s no way he can fuck up with the consistency of trump and his administration, surely? At least he listened to hits PR agency and kept quiet during the run up.

He does drop some absolute howlers mind

This is what I try to say to people when they lose their minds over his latest tweet, he’ll soon be unpopular when he doesn’t deliver for his country.

Not to say he shouldn’t be called out, just that there’s no point in totally losing the plot over it.

Just a pointless addition to the story- I remember all around the area I grew up around the time of the Iraq war someone had spray painted ā€˜Jail Bliar’ everywhere, and i was like, eh, but isn’t the red team on our side? Around the same time my family seemed to ā€˜give up’ on politics for at least a few years until I was old enough to re-engage them.

This thread explains a bit more about why GATT24 isn’t going to happen:

The best defending he’s done since joining Arsenal.
