I guess you’re not sleeping much right now, but still… Mate.

Seeeee I don’t know. Whilst Cleese was pro-brexit and seems a bit of a cunt, I read that tweet as satire

Fuck knows anymore

That’s why I thought it.

Lol

Ian Brown would have some catching up to do if John Cleese came out as a Trump supporter.

Lol I swear Malta have been doing this for ages and it’s really really common knowledge

Seems a bit strong unless I’ve missed something! He does seem to have sold himself out a number of times in recent years but that was down to a messy divorce wasn’t it?

“Although I don’t have anything against people from other countries, the higher the influx into England the more the British identity disappears. So the price is enormous. Travel to England and you have no idea where you are.”

There’s a lot more of that, casual bullshit. This was a few years back around brexit vote time I think

Can’t say I agree with it but it’s just an opinion from someone of another generation, doesn’t really put him into cunt territory for me but there you go.

He’s basically a slightly less bad Morrisey.

I often have to google which country I live in after coming back from the shops

rofl. it bugs me that he singles out londons multiculturalism as an issue. i loved growing up in west london, so many different peoples it was amazing what you saw and learned. my kids are growing up in white supremecist east anglia and it saddens me sometimes

My uncle, an Irishman, has been living in rural Norfolk since 1991 or so. When Brexit came around, he was the only one he knew of to vote to remain. The rest of his neighbours and acquaintances kept saying “oh but you’re different” when it came to immigration - for them, mostly farmers, it was all about immigration and keeping the place white. Now many are finding it hard to get labourers to work the fields and whatnot.

As an aside, the part of Dublin I live in now had a bit of a dump of a reputation when I was growing up, but these days, most of the people living here are often foreigners working for Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Twitter, FB, etc. as all the EME HQs are based here. End result is that the primary school my son is in has some of the most diverse backgrounds going on - pretty sure there’s just 3 kids out of 26 who have 2 Irish parents - and the kids thrive.

i’m sure i’ve said it here before but my wife used to teach in a school up in Kings Lynn. the teachers were trained to spot extremism in the kids because white extremism is rampant up there and a real problem

I live in Carlisle and it is so undiverse! It is becoming more diverse but we just worry about the kids not seeing any diversty and the negative it affect it might have on them. We don’t want them growing up with that small town/city mind set either.

i think these things you can parent into them

we’re from a big city and have that mindset. i’m sure it’s something you can pass on. the important thing is aspirations - apparently its one of the biggest issues out in the sticks. if everyone you’re friends with wants to be a farmer or tesco employee, why would you want to do more?

we’re quite lucky because my father in law lives in Norwich and my wife went then when she was 16. And when we got married we lived in Windsor and sort of have a different views on things, if you know what i mean. In comparision to my wifes sister for example she doesn’t know how to change trains, or use the tube and stuff to that effect she’s lived a quite sheltered life.

So true. According to a mate who’s on Facebook, half the people I went to school with married people from the year below, and still live and work a walk away from where they grew up. Where they will also die.
