If you cannot charge at home then don’t do it. You don’t need a special home charger it will plug into a standard 3 pin.

The non Tesla fast chargers are limited and expensive so you want to avoid being stuck out and about and having to charge unless pre-planned.

For example at the biggest petrol stations there might be 2 fast chargers but there could be a queue and they’re about £30 to charge a car from 20% to full which is not cheap at all.

I really want a Honda e, based on looks and interior. But I don’t have a driveway :frowning:

Yeah, if you have a short commute or need a little whip to get you around then these are cool

Last night i was listening to five live and they were reporting ‘some’ BP garages had to close and they rang every major supermarket who all said everything was fine and to not panic buy.

Looks like that went well.

There needs to be some rules about reporting on petrol shortages because we shit ourselves over it like nothing else. Just the whiff of it is enough to send us mental.

We have an ultra right wing town West of us - massive queues, loads of pumps shutoff, shouting and honking of horns

Progressive/leftish town to the East of us - no queues, no pumps shut off

Could be a coincidence. Could be down to the newspapers you read

I have Staines one side and Windsor to the other.

Although to be fair, Staines is a lot nicer than it’s reputation which is probably just down to Ali G.

I’ve been to Staines once in my life and I’m never going back. This was in the 90s but goddamn what a shit hole

It’s pretty annoying that they don’t have a decent range.

They do look really nice but they’re a bit of a premium thing, quite expensive for what you get which is a small short range car really designed for local trips.

If the new Renault 5 is much like what they’ve shown so far then I reckon we’ll be having one of those. Looks wise I prefer it to the Honda and it’s meant to be pretty cheap as these things go.

I’d seriously consider having a look at Kia’s range of EVs. Was at a car show the other week and they had a Kia EV6 which comes out very shortly on display and it was properly, properly nice. Honestly the quality of the touchpoints and the combination of great looks and clever packaging made it a truly special thing to be around despite it being “just a Kia”. My dad’s a proper fossil-fuel zealot and he absolutely loved it and has confessed he’s not stopped thinking about it since. Then went and bought a diesel Jag instead but whatever!

It’s sister car the Hyundai Ioniq5 is also properly cool. Even better luggage capacity if you’re looking for estate-like carrying capability.

There are probably better electric vehicles and prices better than Tesla too but it comes at the inconvenience of not having the charging network. And built in asteroids/Pac-Man when you’re charging.

It’s funny people have said they can’t see certain threads on here (like the football one when the Euros were on).

I remember when there were fuel shortages in the early 2000s I had a scooter and I jumped the queue and filled it up while someone was inside paying. As I left the petrol station the guy behind the car I’d filled up at the pumps was swearing at me even though I’d caused him zero delay in obtaining fuel.

I mean we were both Brians but whatever

Sat in one at that car show I mentioned earlier. Genius design. The panels are all plastic and done in a way that the front/back and left/right panels are exactly the same, not just symmetrical to keep the costs down. I don’t think it’ll catch on but it’s certainly a cool object.
