Just had a text from the NEU encouraging me to express my thoughts on the teachers pay offer. 4.3% but only 0.5% funded so actually everyone’s kids lose out as schools scrape together their existing pittance budgets to pay the teachers. Get fucked Rishi.

I just rejected that shite too.
Piss take.
More strikes coming.

I have no idea how the myopic fools of right-leaning governments and big business utterly fail to see that paying teachers, nurses, etc. a lot more is an investment worth making.

Haha! I have occasionally been a customer but have never (knowingly) licked his ball sack.

I really need to read the terms and conditions in future.

Re the teacher’s pay offer.
Both of the biggest unions (NEU and NASUWT) have recommended that all members reject this piss take of a ‘deal’.

Slightly annoying that the NEU have done the work here, lost pay by striking etc whilst the NASUWT who fucked their ballot up and thus didn’t strike still get a say in a pay deal they didn’t fight for but at least that union is recommending a rejection too.

Also worth noting - Scottish teachers were offered 7%, English 4.3% which makes no sense.
If I did the exact same job in Scotland I’d be 8k better off a year.

With a generally cheaper cost of living to boot! Am I right in saying Scotland also gets free prescriptions and no/much lower tuition fees?

Tuition fees paid for residents, but astronomical for everybody else. And the unis here have taken on so many international students that they’ve had to start telling them not to come because Glasgow is literally full.

Scripts should be free for those who need them to be free and not for everybody, but that doesn’t look as good on the front page of a newspaper.

NAHT (head teachers union) recommended rejection today aswell.

Depressing for staff near borders to Wales and Scotland when you see the salary comparisons and when you see those Tory MP’s valuing their worth at 10k a day.

RIP Paul O’Grady. He always seemed like a decent bloke. My grandma was from the same area of Birkenhead as him so Blankety Blank was always on if we were round hers when I was a kid.

I find this recent faux outrage against drag artists in the US very odd given that Britain in particular has a history of drag being literal prime-time family entertainment.

i don’t get a lot of it. in the fake christian republican mindset drag artists = trans = liberal = oppose at any cost

it bleeds into everything on the internet. comments sections have become even more crazy than they used to be. can’t remember what the video was but someone posted a comment with an avatar of a lady with blue hair and the comments jumped on her as a liberal karen because of that and that alone

The outrage seems to be because the drag artists are in school, i can imagine parents dont mind if expose the kids to drag related things themselves, but having drag artists enter school without parents knowledge might be upsetting.

It seems to be for storyhour or whatnot, im confused why it has to be someone in drag rather than say a person dressing normally?

I found out about Paul this morning in waiting room for docs, i let out a big ‘awww’ at the news which made everyone turn around at me.

And to part quote frankie Boyle ,
The other men who dress up and enter schools are fucking peado priests .

But that’s ok ……..

I guess it’s just to give it a bit of life, like playing a fun character. Kids like costumes and stuff. The same as we have over here with Panto/Widow Twanky etc

That tradition here probably changes the context a bit though.
