The timing of all this stuff happening at once is very suspicious. Why the fuck would they introduce this online safety bill and give 16 year olds the right to vote at the exact same time.
I read someone make this point about it earlier
It’s all a reaction to the public’s rejection of their genocide in Gaza. The old methods of control (print/televised legacy media) have fallen apart and more and more people get their news from the internet.
They’ve tried to establish control over internet spaces, sites like Reddit, Facebook etc were all attempts to centralise and moderate the information we can see but new platforms spring up quicker than they can handle so they’ve gone with the nuclear option of just blocking us from seeing it
In combination with votes for 16 year olds they’re aiming to have a lot of voters (kids who are currently 13-15) who will have only seen government approved information.
It’s fucking bullshit can’t even have a wank in peace. Already, content that falls outside of the purview of the legislation is being flagged. It honestly disgusts me.
I might sound like a bit of a prude by saying this, but I do think that making it harder for kids to see porn is probably a good thing. I’ve seen more than my fair share of porn and maybe it’s just being older, but some of the stuff you can see on the front pages of mainstream websites these days you would only have been able to find on some deeply niche backroom dvd back when I was a teenager.
I dunno, is it healthy to have access to barely 18 choking gangbangs shot in 4k, in our pockets all time? If I’d seen that at 14 my head would have exploded
I’m not best judge, in 97 I was straight onto rotten dot com, stileproject and ogrish. And this was on a school computer.
I hate to be conspiratorial but a lot of the major vpns are owned by Israeli tech firms or have their servers in Israel. They wont give a toss about about people logging into pornhub they’ll be collecting data and IPs of anyone who access’ content critical of them and then suppress it to boot and forward that info to the authorities.
I think restriction is great to stop kids finding horrible stuff on the landing pages.
Maybe there should be restrictions on heavier stuff? If you are after more wrong stuff you should be prepared to out yourself digitally for the privellege.
I keep my devices clean but looks like it’s a good excuse to not have cheeky looks every so often as I literally only know about the very surface sites.
Yeah, pretty much. But where does educational content lie within this? The whole thing’s a shitshow from the start. Back to the bra section of the Next catalogue I go
Ok so completely contradictory guidance here as far as what to share online, and they’re asking people to share their photos and passport info? Fuck that
Restricting access to pr0n is not a bad idea but its probably impossible now, cat out of bag
I’ve got two daughters who’ll be dating boys (I assume?) in a few years time and the thought of them getting with lads brought up on a steady diet of this grim Andrew Tate choke porn shit that seems to be everywhere now is not something I’m looking forward to. There are gangs of 11-12 year old school kids who go to the local park near us and will sit watching it in groups on loudspeaker and it can’t be a good thing.
