Completely agree. He’s a meme when he could be one of the legit greats.

He’s probably making more money than most of legit greats and that’s the path he’s chosen and I respect that. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t give a fuck about legacy or being legit he just wants to be an Olympic superstar and doesn’t try and hide it.

Think calling him a meme is a bit of a discredit

He’s the ultimate Instagram skater. He should be the hero of this thread.

Yeah I’m not into that. That’s just me though.

Why villain? Every single time a clip of his is posted it is pushing the boundaries of skating, whilst maybe not in a tasteful way isn’t that kinda the best Instagram skating? Like on a purely surface level I know I just want to see the most ridiculous, stupid stuff be done on a skateboard when I go on Instagram

I’m not really into seeing all these tricks done at the same spots. I’d like to see a proper part from him, travelling around and doing all this mad shit in different places. Maybe not landing on other people’s boards, that’s a bit kooky. But it would be cool to see him doing stuff at that level on a proper video or tour.

Maybe it exists already but I don’t care enough to look.

Best/Worst, same thing.

Instagram is a cesspit of stinkers doing tricks for likes and watering down what good skating looks like.

The best skating on instagram is Reynolds kickflipping a bin out of a curb cut or a genuinely good NBD like that cab sugarcane.

Yeah the adult in me says you’re right but Aurelin just satisfies this childlike fascination with pushing what is possible on a skateboard, like video game stuff you’d imagine when you first started skating and thats what I love about him

I disagree, he has had parts and I think his skating translates better on Instagram than a part. Especially due to the fact editing/spot selection is always going to be awful

I get what you’re saying Haven, but some people make goofing look good and some just don’t.

He’s so uncool to me.

I think we might think that because we’re old farts and purists. Plus we have a longer attention span. I think the days of NBDs being hammers at the end of a long part might be over.

Exactly. The short duration and disposable nature of the format means it’s perfect for publishing footage of traditional after-credits fucking about, like the hardflip revert onto his mate’s board, which is bonkers no matter how you look at it.
