Instagram Blowouts

I thought clipper was cooked?

Don’t want to shit on people’s stuff but not the best Noseblunt photo.

Didn’t Darrel Stanton have that? Or was it regs? Vaguely remember it happening on the wrong side of the ledge, I forget.

Darrell Stanton did like an ally-pop fs blunt on it.

Edit: and nollie bs noseblunt.

Darrell was fucking amazing. One of my favourite styles ever. It’s a skateboarding tragedy that he dipped out so soon.

Didn’t they call those “Sharp Slides” for a bit?
I’m sure there was a name…

A Booger Slide is when you slide in the middle of a ledge with no lock. But I think there are a couple of names for that, too.

Yer don’t every do it in the middle of the ledge because it’s whack as fuck.

Not heard that, is it a local thing or was it in a magazine or something?

Big Brother definitely used it.

Yh, I think he skates regularly and rips. He was on a bunt podcast which was really good.

I dunno about really good. He seemed a bit deluded and I felt a bit sorry for him. Dude clearly got chewed up and spat out by the industry machine.

I notice a lot of black skaters kind of suffer that: Salabanzi (although he had a bit of a comeback) and Marquis Preston. I often felt their behaviour was often deemed ‘problematic’ and they weren’t given opportunities to atone for it and grow. There aren’t many black skaters who are allowed to grow old within the industry and gain a place behind the scenes.

I’d love to hear all the exact details around Salabanzi’s exit from the industry and then compare it to some other top pros of any background. I never really bought it at the time, all I seem to remember was hearing he smoked a lot of weed or something, never anything concrete.

He talked about it here: SQUASHING RUMORS WITH BASTIEN SALABANZI - Jenkem Magazine

He’s one of my favourite skaters so that explains the enthusiasm. After the Jenkem interview which was odd it was good to hear him come across well. It’s a shame what happened, lots of talent. I guess his skating now isn’t cutting edge but he’s still got that style.
